Here we have the painted version of the Love family, the latest addition to Asset's "Little Modling" range of fiugres depicting life in the village in the years preceding the First World War. Here we see Herbert Love, publican of the Black Swan, pulling a jug of his favourite beer with wife Matilda keeping a close eye on precedings. His son, Joshua, applies pressure on the cider press producing "Black Swan Scrumpy", an impressive brew nearly lethal to the unwary. Daughter Rebecca (Becky) doesn't work at the pub but is a dairymaid at nearbye Home Farm, shown here operating a barrel butter churn. Not part of the family but a near permanent fixture of the bar is Soloman Harrison, shown sharing his favourite settle with one of Matilda's many cats. More characters are in the pipeline, watch this space. Trooper

I seem to recall that look of Matilda's - arms folded - head raised enquiringly - such as in ; "What time do you call this then? I showed "La Commandante" the figure - but just got a blank look - like - "Who Me?"

Anyway, as I have just ordered a Brewers Dray with a couple of delivery-men, (from ATS actually) - I think some corner of my collection could become "Brewers Corner" one of these fine days - so a little re-visit to some of The Black Swan's occupants, might be in order too. I'll keep my eye on some of these from another of my old favourites - Asset. johnnybach

Pre-production photos of the latest set in Asset's "Little Modling" rural village series, The Shooting Party.
One of the frequent visitors to the Manor house was the Baron Piet von Tarrant and his wife Hannah. The Baron, a Bavarian, was a large gentleman with a very basic sense of humour. Here we see him bellowing with laughter at one of his own jokes, much to the bemusement of Gregory Hanger, the Squire's gamekeeper. Meanwhile Hannah, who disapproves of her husband's earthy humour, ignores him and feeds a titbit to her constant companion the daschund Wurst. Hanger's two dogs, Snuff and Muffin are not quite sure about Wurst, Snuff has decided to stick close by his master while Muffin opts for a closer inspection and the possibility of sharing the goodies. Excellent figures, Trooper, especially your Baron (though I am not an impartial judge ;) ). He needs a Tirolerhut with a Gamsbart, though, if he's a real Bayer.

This opens up all kinds of possibilities for some displays, as Johnnybach has mentioned. Looking forward to more of the series!

Prost!
