Asset have just released the first group of a new range of rural people, the characters who inhabited the village of Little Modling. Most of these figures are based upon the writings of little Daisy Potts, a child from the village who was given a diary to help her with her writing and who kept a detailed daily account of the village, it's inhabitants and animals. Her diaries were found some years ago in an old box in an attic and were nearly thrown out but fortunately were saved and passed on to the Little Modling History Society. At some point in the future we will give more details of the early history of the village plus some archive photos along with modern comparisons but for now we shall concentrate on the first family group released by Asset.
This is the Turner family. The patriarch is Thomas Turner, the village wheelwright depicted here repairing a cart wheel.
Next is his oldest son, Mathew, who works at Home Farm shown here repairing a dry stone wall.
Luke, the middle son, works at Sir Hubert Wetherington-Gore's Manor Estate farm as a swineherd, or, as he terms it, pigman. here he is shown grinning happily as the young vet, Rupert Adams, delivers his favourite, "Polly Pig", of her first litter.
The youngest of the three boys is John who also works at Home Farm standing in the fields sharpening his scythe.
And finally the inspiration for this range, little Daisy Potts herself. Daisy really liked the Turners, Thomas made her a little cart one Christmas, Mathew, who had served in the army enthralled her with tales of far off lands, Luke let her help feed the piglets and John treats her as an equal and listens to what she has to say.Full details of each figure's history is included as is also a potted history of the village. Further characters are in preparation as are further details of the village, all of which will build into an extensive display of an interesting corner of rural England during that last Golden Age before the onset of 1914 changed everything for ever. Sounds like a most interesting subject.
Beside all the characters, will there be buildings, scenics, or facades as backdrops too?

Not at the present moment, but who knows what the future might bring? At the moment the accessories are confined to the trades in hand, ie cider press, dry stone wall, butter churn eic or to the individual characters interests. Trooper
