I really enjoy this part of the business and I suppose it shows. I was cleaning up my work space and I noticed all of the Iron Brigade figures in one of my display cases. I have sculpted a good number for at least 4 different companies and I have them all displayed together.
Here I put a selection of the Troiani Historical Miniatures figures and some of the 1st Gear/W. Britain figures to create a skirmish line at the edge of the woods. This ought to make your Rebs think twice Mike! I suspect the Artillery will be supporting this advance too...
I hope you enjoy these. I had fun finishing this one up today, and now I can finish up the another one I started a while ago too.

Love this display using Union Iron Brigade figures as this configuration represents the 24th Michigan holding out in the woods near the front of the Lutheran Seminary, the last stand prior to the general retreat through Gettysburg as the fighting on July 1st draws to a close.
Colonel Morrow, having seen several of his men shot down holding the flag does it himself, only he too was shot down but lived to fight another day, the last of seven bearers killed or wounded that day.
The Union Iron Brigade; first brigade, first division, first corps.........

So good of you to make the connection George... It was exactly what I had in mind when I staged this... with the mist standing in for the 'Fog of War' that black powder produces.
I can't wait to get my copies of all of the new Iron Brigade figures I have sculpted for the 1stGear/W.Britain 2010 catalog offering.
With these added to the collection I can set up some pretty interesting vignettes, and this in turn will probably produce some new scenics.

I'm a big fan of the Iron Brigade, having read Nolans book many times; their actions on McPherson's Ridge, in McPherson's woods, in the railroad cut vs the Confederates under Davis (nephew of Jefferson Davis) and their last stand in front of the Seminary basically saved the Union Army the first day of Gettysburg.
They were essentially finished as a fighting force after that battle but as Rufus Dawes said "The Iron Brigade has a record and with the inducement of pride, duty, patriotism and personal preservation, they will stand together till the last."
There was no greater a fighting force in either army from 1861 to 1865 IMO.....................
