Atlantic Wall Fortification.....The Storm is Coming (2 Viewers)

PA, is there room for a bigger gun in there do you think or is it pretty tight for space?

Rob

Rob, I was actually thinking about making a larger gun tube out of some brass pipe, painting it and attaching it to a gunshield like base. You would only see the front of it for the most part anyway. This would give it the large caliber effect as seen in many fortification pics.

Thats a good idea PA, shouldn't be too hard to fashion something like that, I look forward to seeing the end result.

Check out the web for photo"s of the Longues-Sur-Mer Battery in Normandy..the bunkers there are almost identical to yours..and what"s even better the guns are still in place!!..all you have to do is copy the pics, I have made barrels in the past by sliding a plastic tube tightly inside a brass tube ...gives a nice thick wall to the barrel, you can then slide another shorter brass tube over this at the breech end to give that stepped effect that some gun barrels have..(dont know if the guns at longues-sur-mer are of this type) then just copy the gun shield using
plastic card....Good luck!!.

Steve, Thanks for your input. Yes I'm going to have to place a larger big bore caliber barrel in there to achieve that classic Normandy fortification look that we are so used to seeing. Off to the local hobby shop soon. :wink2:
