My wife and I saw this one last night. There's a pretty good Dunkirk scene.

I hope Kira Knightly develops a figure someday.

I saw this movie a few weeks ago and it's a wonderful movie that is extremely sad. I don't want to spoil it for others who may want to see it but it's a very good story. The actor (Saoirse Ronan) who plays Briony, a child who misinterprets what she sees and sets a whole range of actions into motion with tragic consequences, is very good and has been nominated for the Oscar.

The movie has received some mixed reviews. I know some critics loved it while others hated it. However, I think it's quite good.

I'm reading the book now.

I saw this last week.I enjoyed it and thought it was clever with the way it used flashbacks.I guess its not the sort of film you'd watch often but very enjoyable.Dunkirk scenes were very good too.

And Ms Knightly looked fine to me!;)

OK, she's "cute."

I have to say she's maturing as an actress.

I had to do my husbandly duty and take my wife to see that like last month or something. I was contemplating running out into traffic before we left and I kind of still think it might have been less painful than watching that flick.

It was kind of odd, I guess Saturday afternoon is (better be REAL careful here) matinee day for the "seniors" of Central Pa- my wife and I were the youngest people in the theater by DECADES!! :D Given a lot of the material that was being discussed and words, I felt like I was sitting next to my grandmother watching some softcore flick on cable at 3 in the morning. Very uneasy to say the least- and my wife felt the same way- wasn't like I was in the minority.

Grossly over dramatic, annoying with trying to be clever and fake the viewer out into believeing they saw something when they really didn't. The scenes with Dunkirk were very well done, though I thought the scene with the dead school girls was overdramatic- just didn't add anything to the story- like most of the other scenes.

Yes but when she climbs out of the pond who cares about the film mate!;)

Come on Rob apart from that scene it really is yet another "period" movie that has dogged British Cinema since "The English Patient". They must all get together and say well we can't make another version of Pride and Prejudice we did fifteen versions only last year but we must do another "E.P" and go for the Oscar, no matter that the story is depressing and hollow if we stick in five minutes of combat for the guys and then slush an upstairs- downstairs love match and we'll throw in a nasty little girl who tells lies, the English ladies will lap it up and we'll do another one next year and the year after and then we can do Pride and Prejudice again and maybe Jane Eyre.
Enough already please!

Thank God Sly's back with Rambo, which without doubt has the most graphic "combat violence" since Private Ryan bar none and you will be surprised to know it's also a very good film.

Yeah, but does Sly rescue Keira Knightley from a pond in the film?

Reb, I think you're crediting some of us with far more depth than we deserve :D

To be fair, I'll probably end up seeing the Rambo and watching the KK 2 minute clip on Youtube. ;).

Anyhoo, got to go and watch King Arthur again to check for uniform inaccuracies - purely for the sake of historical research you understand.

Simon, if the Arthur version is the most recent one, I must admit that it is one of my favorites..Miichael

Hey Reb,

I hear what your saying mate, not the best of films but not the worst either.I thought by Ms Knightley's standards she didn't act too badly. And i quite enjoyed the Dunkirk scenes.Got to say i'm not a fan of Sly Stallone who has made some truly terrible films, however i understand this film is doing well.

Rob

I thought Atonement was a very good movie and I guess I'm a sucker for those "English period" movies because I eat them up. Loved the English Patient.

As for Stallone, that guy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. I don't if a guy who is 61 years old should be making this kind of movie. All I can say is "Adrian!!" Please.

The beach scenes were filmed 30mins up the road from me and it was great to go and see all the action................from afar.

A few of the local guys i know where paid extras and were in it.

Yet to see the film!
