Happy Australia Day to all Ozzies on the forum. Australia Day is enjoying greater recognition these days with many people displaying Aussie flags on their cars and houses.

Btw, here's a link about the recent Australia Victoria Cross winner Trooper Mark Donaldson: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24920703-601,00.html

Hear hear!!:D I love this country. Cheers Matt, Happy Australia Day to you too.

Happy Australia Day to all of our cousins Down Under! The world would be a much duller and bleaker place without you.

If I couldn't live here, I'd like nothing better than to live in Australia.

Prosit!

My sentiments exactly.

I missed this one !
Still got the flag on my car. Not a bad deal, buy the newspaper and get a flag for your car.

Did anybody notice Chinese New Year was the same day as Australia Day. The Chinese Aussies had a double celebration.

Went with the missus to Hyde Park in Sydney (Australia's answer to New York's Central Park) on Australia Day.

There were about 300 or more vintage and classic cars there.

The best part was the military vehicle section which included a WWII U.S. Army Harley-Davidson, U.S. Willy's Jeeps, as well as Korean and Vietnam War vintage Land Rovers and trucks. There was also a modern fully kitted Australian S.A.S. 6WD vehicle.

Best of all though, there was an Afrika Korps desert vehicle with an authentic desert paint scheme, correct decals and german machine gun mounted on the metal cross bar. It drew a pretty big crowd.

Not too many 1942 Kubelwagens getting around ol' Sydney town in 2009. :D

The General,
I would have liked to see the SAS vehicle.
Up here in sunny Brisbane there is a show called History Alive held on Queens Birthday week end which is the biggest re-enactment show in Australia see www.historyalive.org.au where they have Romans, Greeks, lots of medieval groups, ACW, Queensland Scottish, WWI, WWII (Fallschirmjager, Italians, Brits, Russians, Aussies) and Vietnam groups including some vehicles. One of our customers who is a LTCOL usually has a 1/1 scale German Halftrack at that event.
In addition the only remaining original WWI German tank is in Brisbane !!
Regards
Brett
