Thanks Waynepoo, you'll be really glad you did when you get there .

Jack, now that would be fun wouldn't it, a bunch of Treefroggers meet up in London , sink a few and
jump on a coach and head off across the channel ( or under it to be precise) to check Ypre and the
Somme. Tell you what, if I win the lottery I'll hire a coach and pay air fare for a load of forum members to come over, how's that sound?!

(apologies for jumbled paragraphs am on iPhone and no idea why it does that)

Rob
I SECOND THAT.

I have sought legal advice and your offer to hire a coach is, on the face of it, a legally binding contract.

The world bacame a poorer place when women were allowed to testify against their husbands in court!

On a separate note - now that we are safe in the Australian forum - can you believe that people need to be convinced of the importance of the BoB? How can you claim that D Day was vital without an undefeated Britain to launch it from? Where would the invasion have come from - Africa? New York?

Its a pity that the greatest moment in Empire History is glossed over. Without humour or exaggeration, it was, indeed, your (our - I take the Commonwealth seriously!) people's finest hour!

Well said indeed Jack. It was indeed our (collective) greatest hour. Pilots from around the world came here , joined the RAF and gave Goering such a kick to his lard swaddled backside that they felt the wobble back in Berlin. As you quite rightly state, no BoB victory no D Day and we may well still be talking German over here and no longer playing Cricket!. And you know what that means Jack, no BoB no ashes series!!{eek3}{eek3}:wink2:

I think some may also possibly find it hard to accept that the mighty German Luftwaffe that had reigned supreme got such a beating at the hands of the few and that for all their brilliant weapons of War it was the Spitfire that emerged from that battle the most famous and best loved fighter plane of all time.

It is good to live in a world in which courage still has a part to play.

PS - Rob, Rob - you forgot the Hurricane!

Oops, I certainly did Jack, we all know the Hurricane did all the work but the Spit got the glory .
