Since Austrians had taken part in major battles during Napoleonic era, how come we are not seeing them?

Do you guys think that the predominantly white uniform wouldn't make an appealing display?

I would think that because First Legion is doing the battles of Borodino and Waterloo. Unfortunately, the Austrians weren't at either battle, of course.
I would love to see Austrian figures. I think that they had beautiful uniforms and would make a great subject for FL. I hope that Matt gets to them some time down the line.

I would buy Austrians.

I think the Austrians did more than any other nation to bring down Napoleon. Naploeon was at war with Austria time and time again. Examples:

Italy, 1797
Marengo, 1800
Austerlitz, 1805
Wagram, 1809
Dresden and Leipzig, 1813
Invasion of France 1814.

My vote would be for the battle of Wagram. These uniforms would serve well also for all the battles of 1813 and 1814.

When you get a minute Matt please get started on the Austrians. :)

Some Great choices King's Man , and whats not to like about Wagram . The White uniforms of the Austrian Fusiliers and Grenadiers would be most welcome . I would also like to see what First Legion could do with the Uniforms of the Austrian Landwehr wouldn't that be cool . The Austrian Battalion Flag has always be a favorite of mine . It would also be Great to have a personality figure of Lasalle :) done with that First Legion Class . I guess well all just have to wait and see when they will get to it , and I'm sure they will get fair coverage when its appropriate:eek: ;) Gebhard

I just visited the Salzburg fortress last week, and there's an impressive display of Austrian Army uniforms inside...

I agree, the White uniform is quite impressive, and I got a Landwehr toy soldier from Prague, even though it's not done as nice as FL.

Personally I hope they come after the Peninsula is fairly treated. In terms of doing the most to bring down Napoleon, I would say that was much more their intent than the result; JMO.;)

Bill , I have to admire your persistence . That is now over 500 times you have mentioned your wish for FL to cover the Peninsula but who's counting ;) I hope they do a Sharpe figure and and Obadiah riding a donkey collectors set , that should make some guys really happy and its sure to be a big hit . On a serious note IMO anything British sells well , most people seem more interested in the boys in red . I'm sure you will get your wish down the road. Gebhard

I don't know about Obadiah on a donkey but, Rocket Artillery would be an interesting subject. After the Highlanders, Rifles, Horse Artillery and Heavy Cavalry of course.:D

Only 500, I must be slipping.;):D Oh well at least I am consistent.:D Actually I could do without Obadiah but not Harper; of course we can't talk like that so a generic 95th Officer and Sargeant will have to do. Pity since I would certainly like to have seen a Teresa.

I know I won't.:eek::D

Don't feel bad I'm still waiting for someone to do Franco Prussian war and Friedrich der Große and the Seven Years War . IMO they would be good sellers with Great potential for some Beautiful Figures . Who knows down the road what will happen ;) Gebhard

I'm getting too old to wait patiently for new ranges.:D:rolleyes:

I totally agree - Austria was an EMPIRE ! We need urgently a lot of Austrian soldiers - hussars and cuirassiers would be fantastic !

We can only hope that First Legion branch out into Battle that the Austrians took part in Leipzig or Dresden would be very nice indeed . Take a look at my photo albums you my recognize the collections . Gebhard

Weren't there some Austrians at Stalingrad?

I'm sure there were , there was also one Austrian that was mostly responsible for them staying there ( hint he had a little mustache and didn't like Stalin at all )

But that would be for the WWII line , Were talking Napoleonics here brother ;)
Best Gebhard

Also I have this austrians fpr WW1

I suspect that one reason we haven't seen more Austrians is that for many collectors, at their point of entry into the study of the history and into the hobby, are drawn to the French and British. Plus, though the Austrians fought in many of the battles, and were members of every coalition against the French, they were the St Louis Browns (baseball) of Europe after the Siege of Vienna. It was a long, gradual decline, but the Austrian Empire receded almost without reverse, from that time.

Prost!
