AWI : an incomprehensible scale difference (1 Viewer)

Seems Coldstream bigger than Russians, no?
Well I have the Guard NA129 and he measures 62.5mm (sole to head)including base and 60mm without the base. Given the tall hat you have to estimate the top of the head but that is not too difficult actually. Of course the TF version of this figure uses the inches only ruler, which I do not care for. It also seems to have a slightly different camera angle. Compare it with NA128, which seems to correspond better with my own measurement or 2 15/32 inches sole to head with base (see why I don't like doing this in inches;)). Comparing the relatively comparable pose of the Russian NA146, it would seem the Russians are pretty close at about 63mm with base. Unfortunately, I do not have a K&C Russian for comparison. Ron or one of you big NAP collectors, can you confirm?

Which one was out of scale to the others Alex?

Take the Chasseur a Cheval for example (NA093, flag bearer) .. It conforms to the 1:30 scale perfectly.. But if you try to put any of the french Cuirassier right next to him... all those cuirassiers look like 1:32 if not smaller.

Cheers,

Alex

From my understanding of Napoleonic cavalry it should be teh Chassuers who were smaller and lighter men with smaller and fatser horses. The Curassiers are supposed to be big men on big horses ecah horse and rider weighing in at just under a ton.
SO that discrepancy is particularly bad I am afraid.
Hopefully the upcomming Polish Lancers will not be bigger than the Curassiers. They were also light cavalry

Interesting and unforunate to hear. These are hard to compare even with the TF ruler pictures since the Cuirassiers are shown with the wooden inches only ruler, which in these pictures is not very clear so it is hard to see the units, and the Chasseurs do not seem to have any ruler pictures.:(

I should have taken pictures of these 2 side by side before sending the cuirassier back to the dealer :(
