We are also pleased to head back to the colonies circa 1776 with our presentation of the British 22nd Regiment of Foot! The 22nd Regiment of Foot was sent to Boston shortly after the Battle of Bunker Hill. Their regimental commander, being present before their arrival, had been killed leading an attack during the Battle. With the city under siege, the 22nd left Boston for Halifax. The regiment was later deployed to New York in 1776 and took part in the battles in and around New York and Long Island. The regiment left New York after the Continentals had been driven out and took up duty in Newport Rhode Island. Just prior to their landing, the rebels abandoned their positions in Newport. In 1778 the regiment was heavily engaged on Newport Island which was under attack by the rebels, inspired by their victories at Saratoga. Despite taking heavy losses, the 22nd were primarily responsible for driving off the rebel forces. In 1780 the regiment found itself back in New York and in the vanguard of a British force attempting to route the Continental Army at Morristown, NJ, but met stiff resistance from thousands of Militia and were forced to call a halt to the offensive. The regiment resumed Garrison duties and finally left for England at the end of the war in 1783. Presented with 15 total sets deployed in Firing Line, the 22nd Regiment of Foot is ready to take on all comers, be them the Continental Militia or the regular forces of Washington's Army!

What a great thing to wake up to! The resolute AWI collectors among us have been happily waiting for these guys and now they are here. Excellent group of poses to make a complete firing line and I especially enjoy the variant heads on two of them. Little details like that help make a great, well-rounded release.

Well done Matt and company!

Nice job First Legion. Highly detailed and perfectly sculptured. Looking forward in collecting this AWI figures. My mind right now going in circles on what is next
for the AWI series. Haah. I will just send you an personal email instead. Again, good job.:smile2:

I think he gave a hint when he said that the 22nd would take on all comers be it militia or Washington's regulars.

As some of you might know, I concentrate on the French & Indian War. I have the FL colonial release, but not the 5th or the Delaware. However, the 22nd colors are very close to what the 48th would be wearing (Battle of Monongahela). So close in fact that I doubt the neighbors would spot my "white" lie. Very tempting indeed.

48th = Buff facings with white linen pants provided by Braddock. The 5R on the pack might be hard to pass off, but if I just arrange the figures in the right way ........

Very cool! FLs releases just get better and better. The detail and paint job on these lads are amazing.

Cheer!!!! The 22nd regiment fought in Canada during the French and Indian War. From British Fife and Drum: Click the 22nd Tab on the blue list. To see very minor changes in uniform, select the French Indian War Grenadier Hat and view again. Facing color is a slightly different hue between periods, but I would want a confirmation on that. BONK ME --- The GR on the back of the pack is for King George, so non-issue, assuming I am "seeing" that correctly.

In the center of each colour is to be painted, or embroidered, in gold
Roman characters, the number of the rank of the regiment, within the
wreath of roses and thistles on the same stalk. The second Colour to be
the colour of the facing of the regiment, with the Union in the upper
canton; except those regiments which are faced with red, white, or black.

The 22nd was first raised in Chester for service under King William III
in 1688 being known as the Duke of Norfolk's Regiment of Foot.
The regiment was designated the 22nd Regiment of Foot in July of 1751.

In 1758 the 22nd participated in the siege and capture of Louisburg,
where it received its first battle honour. The grenadiers of the 22nd,
along with the grenadier companies of certain other regiments, formed
a battalion entitled the 'Grenadiers of Louisburg,' fighting on the
Plains of Abraham, above the city of Quebec, on September 13, 1759.
The regiment was present for the French surrender of Montreal in 1760.

After Montreal, the 22nd was sent to the West Indies, seeing
action in Dominica in 1761 and taking part in the capture of
Martinique and the Spanish citadel of Havana in 1762.

The 22nd Regiment of Foot arrived in Boston in July of 1775.
On March 15th, 1776, during the evacuation Boston, the regiment
left for Halifax, Nova Scotia. Returning to America in June of 1776,
the 22nd spent most of the American Revolution garrisoned in and
around New York City, taking part in periodic skirmishes throughout
Long Island, Staten Island, New Jersey and Rhode Island. In 1782
the 22nd was granted the county title of the Cheshire Regiment.

The 22nd Regiment of Foot left New York with the rest of the British
Army on November 25, 1783, officially ending the American Revolution.
