Guys
I had a chance to speak with Richard Walker at the London Show - he is a really nice guy and answered my questions about the AZW range.
He said that the 24th Regiment sets for Nov were on a ship (long boat from China perhaps!!!) and we will see them soon which is great news. He said that the production issues had improved but were still frustrating and an issue for all manufacturers.
I asked what was planned for 2012 and he said that for Rorke’s Drift there was 4-5 of the two person sets planned. This is great news, as I think they are some of my favourite pieces for this series.
Not surprisingly I asked about Zulu dead and casualties and they are also coming out. A cluster of two dead Zulu’s, one single and one wounded figure on their knees having been shot / bayoneted are planned. Again great news.
He said he thought that would pretty much cover Rorke’s Drift and that they would focus more on Isandlawana.
He said that they planned to have a ‘spectacular’ piece being released for Isandlawana. But would not elaborate further. Not sure what they could be - the mountain???
I asked about Lancers and he said that they may consider Dragoons and Lancers but that he was not sure - given the size of the British square – that many would seek to recreate the Battle of Ulundi!!!
So 2012 sounds like it will be a great year for us AZW collectors
