I posted in eBay as well. I stumbled into a collection that I'm selling and I'm trying to get a sense of what to expect on eBay for these items. One is Baldet, one is signed by Alcocer. I cannot find any auction results for figures related to either author. The mysterious wheels of eBay are going to grind ahead no matter what but I'm curious as to what to expect. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Not much more than you're asking for them, I would expect. The older collectors are familiar with those names, but I don't think too many younger collectors do. Guys my age (51) are probably on the cusp. I have Baldet's book on toy soldiers, for example, so that figure has some significance to me. But a guy just starting out, buying K&C, Frontline, First Legion, probably hasn't yet learned of the earlier generations of military miniaturists.

Prost!

So "sentimental pieces" it sounds like. Well that's good enough. Thanks for the help!

Baldet in auction : see page 67 of this catalogue

The prices in auction depends of many vectors; the usual ones : makers, when, what, unique or not ... and an important one : WHO was the previous owner like Forbe's collection, a movie star collection ......

"....Marcel Baldet died in 1972, he begon to make soiid lead figures in the 1940 years .
Molding only legs, torso, arms, heads as "naked" spare parts for his production . Clothing them with sheet of lead, brass . So all pieces are unique . He worked mainly on commissions . He was commissioned for exemple by Anderson House Wahington and Musée Militaire Montréal . Well appreciate for his writings, less for his figures ."

( the only one book I know about figures kit and toys with direct info and no blablabla )

I stand corrected in my prediction about what you'd get for the Baldet figure. I see that it's up to $139. It looks like you've got some serious collectors bidding. Congratulations!

Prost!

That poilu figure is stunning.

It does seem as though one person at least has an interest in the Baldet. So that's good.

I hadn't thought about mentioning previous owner. Good to know if there is a next time. This collection came from Jack Hurley. I met his family and wife (now deceased) and he sounded like a guy you'd want to know. I believe he was a known collector, certainly a well liked innkeeper.
