Just saw this picture of the Gold Coast,,,,,is this true ?,,,,,,what happened to that nice little back water just up from tweed Heads ....I know you Banana Benders Bull Dust a wee bit....but really ...this is too much......next thing you'll be bull dusting about is Bert Hinkler aircraft and some WW1 tank.....and bloody Taipan snakes........cut the rope from Stradbroke island and you mob would float away...cheers TomB....PS...the pic wont download...too big maybe

Ha Tom you have to remember that the Gold Coast is very like a little America . And if you want to go for a swim you go to the north coast because the Gold Coast is to big and ugly for family's. Great for theme parks and tourist sites but plenty more to see in this great state than a city on the beach. Chris.{sm3}

That is a pity...use to like the odd WE there ....was a nice change from the crowded Syd beach's I was use to as a kid.....Surfer's...Sth Port....darned if I could think of the name,,,use to laugh at the name surfers....the surf was only a ripple compared to the Boomers at Bondi....though to be very honest...the bikini's were a ripper at both beacher's.....Wacko!.....regards TomB

Scott...Check Utube for old Dad and Dave very early film...you may also be able to find something on George Wallace....Roy McKaki ..".Moe."..one name...these were early Aussie comedians who also made some movies....Dad and Dave (and Mabel) aside from the movie's was also on radio...there was a wealth of Aussie slang there...the cockies (farmers) were a breed of their own.....I think Aussie made the first full movie feature "Ned Kelly"...dreadfull by todays stanard but a ripper movie in those days.....Geore Wallace's son George Jr had a Burlesque show at the Tiv in Brisbane... with the non moving topless young ladies and all the slap bang of the comedy of that era....one of the guys in my platoon had a spot singing in the show (When we were in camp) The whole platoon were regular' s at the show,,, we met George and some of the young ladies....hey love this forum...things I had forgot and most likely never remember again,all of a sudden seems like yesterday...sorry for my raving on...regards TomB
