Barclay question (1 Viewer)

I have collected soldiers for some time now and have quite a few dimestores. I recently bought a really nice looking Barclay soldier on Ebay. Most of my soldiers have a little wear and tear to them. I really don't mind if they have a little 'patina' to them, but this soldier is imaculate. Anyway, I have discovered that apparently, someone has acquired the rights to the name 'Barclay' and is reproducing the old dimestore figures. That's cool, I guess, but what I want to know is there any way to distinguish between the vintage soldiers produced by Barclay, and the new figures being produced today. Any help in this area would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. I started a thread below called "Got a Dime." Barclay figures usually have a number on the stand or leg. For example, #781 on base or leg would match their catalog or show it is a Barclay figure. O'Brien wrote three Dimestore books on the figures and values for reference. I am sure you are familiar with them.

Eccles Brothers in Iowa makes repro figures and parts but the figures are marked Eccles. Maybe there is someone recasting Dimestores. I know it has been done before. Leadmen

The "mintness" alone should be a pretty good indicator. I have an eccles that I bought. Just loved the freshness. Sometimes I just like them all shiny.:D:D

Welcome to the forum. Sorry that I possess no expertise with barclay -- Britains has always been my soldiers of choice. But also welcome to a fellow Buffalonian!
