Well even though I mostly collect Napoleonic I do buy the occasional WWII piece. I had been planning for some time now to try an Honor Bound Panther tank. Now with the price increase coming shortly and a birthday around the corner I have decided to accelerate my purchase.

I would appreciate the help of the Honor Bound collectors who have either purchased or seen Barkmann’s Panther and the Winter Panther. I am debating between the two but cannot afford both. I know to a point this is apples vs. oranges but they are both panthers after all. Let me know your thoughts and if the brass parts on the Winter Panther make a difference.

As a punishment for anyone who says I must buy both I will remind you of my limited funds and require you to make a donation to the Old Guard Toy Soldier Fund. Amount determined by how irritating your comment is. This is only fair since I do want to purchase both. By the way this worthy charity is always open and willing to take your money for a good cause.

Lastly even my wife likes the Winter Field Kitchen. Any ammunition you can give me to convince her to buy this piece also would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Old Guard

Old Guard,

I have all four panthers and they are all excellent models, but if I had to choose one it would be the Winter Panther. This is my favourite vehicle in my collection.:D

Best Wishes

Andy

Old Gaurd,

I have the 3 Barkmanns and the winter panther, without question they are all very nice, for myself the winter panther set really stands out and is currently my favorite set.

HB has done a exceptional job painting this set. The application of the winter white wash shows the panthers base paint creating a depth to this tank. Figures are supurbly sculpted, detailed and painted.

If your funds are limited go for the winter panther, its a great display piece. You have untill next sunday before the price goes up.

Heres a little review I did on the Barkmanns.

Old Guard, I do not envy you your choice. For me it would be like having to choose between two children whom are exactly the same.

If it were I that has to make the decision as to which model to purchase, I would approach it a little bit differently. I would get the winter first. The light white dusting on the tank’s exterior seems to bring out the detailing and highlights the model very good in different lighting situations. Then, I would save the money necessary and get either of the other three at some point in the future.

The Winter Panther is the best vehicle that I have seen. The figures have a lot of character as well. The Barkmann Panther is fantastic but the colors are a bit mute for collectors that prefer the KC style.

Cheers:

I must also agree with my fellow Suadron Members that the HB Winter Panther is my favorite! However, I must admit that I absolutely LOVE the horse drawn Winter Field Kitchen-the dog sitting up front sold me instantly as it portrayed a bit of sanity and normalcy at an insane time! But here is the BONUS-the wife likes it so buy it! Best of luck.

The HB Winter Panther blew me away when I bought it sometime ago. It is fabulous. I just purchasesd the winter field kitchen and you know it is a great piece too. I'd have to say the Field Kitchen is my favorite piece at the moment.

Good Luck. Greg

Well....heck. After Tordica's pictures and the rave reviews from you other guys, I broke my own pledge and bought the winter panther (and the winter field kitchen)-this after 'promising' myself I was going to limit my WWII collection to summer/Normandy type sets.

This truly is an evil hobby;)

Gees Old Guard,

Not to be contrary with the rest of the pack here but I like the Barkmann's the best and especially if you get a specially painted MG42 by HB from Treefrog for a small fee of $25.

Thank you everyone for your input and help in this very difficult decision. Just to update everyone I have decided to go with the Winter Panther. A special thank you to TORICDA for the great pictures and the link to your review of the BarkManns Panthers. The pictures helped tremendously in making my decision. Hopefully between now and the 25th I will win the lottery or somehow become rich and be able to get all of these great Panthers. Still working on the wife on the Winter Field Kitchen set, we shall see. Personally I think Honour Bound owes me some commission money since this thread help sell Mike9717 on the Winter Panther and Winter Field Kitchen.

Thanks,
Old Guard

I agree with you Old Guard !

Old Guard,

The Winter Panther is a good one, but if you can get some how free up some funs prior to the price increase to get a least of the Barkmann's you'll never regret it.

Trust me on that one,

Carlos

I opened and assembled my Winter Panther this morning and I'm flat blown away by the quality and attention to detail on this item. That cupola mounted machine gun is a work of art.
I am VERY glad I listened to you guys and added this to my collection.

I also ordered the Barkman Panther, but want to admire this beauty a while before I open that one.

Well done Honour Bound, you have a new fan.

Mike, all of us who already own either the winter panther or Barkmann or both never any doubts that you would be "blown away" by them! Enjoy.:D

Oh, and you NEED to order an extra MG for that Barkmann, sorry, should have told you that before.

Fred, How does one order an extra MG ? I don't see it as an available item on Treefrog's site with the Honour Bound items-or other sites for that matter.

I had also ordered the K&C winter tank riders to put on the back deck-they look awesome with it.

Mike, just contact your friendly forum host (hostess?).:D

Fred

Mike, I'm glad that you enjoyed your Winter Panther.

The extra mgs can be ordered directly from us, but if you give Shannon or Mandi a call they will take the order for us. It is easier for us to include the tiny boxes of the mgs inside one of our shippings to Treefrog Treasures, so they don't get damaged or lost in the way.

Thanks,

Ana
