Yes, several of these look very good, not so sure about the David Jason docu, national treasure though he is I'm not sure about docu presenter. But all the BBC,Yesterday progs look very good, especially the Geoffrey Wellum one.

Heros of Biggin Hill last night. Excellent programme and I was glad to see that the ground crews got some long overdue recognition. Obviously the battle was won by the pilots but they couldn't have done it without the efforts of the crews who worked night and day to get the aircraft ready. The bravery of the WAAF who went all over the field marking the unexploded bombs was recognised by the award of the MM. IMO she deserved a higher award. Brave men and women and resiliant civilians.

Agree it was good to see everyone get their praise for the super human effort that was displayed during this battle. The WAAF who got the MM was very brave but, the MM is a really prestigious award and not many get handed out. I think the only higher award she may have got would have been the VC if one had gone off. But, it must have taken some courage to do that but, it just sums them all up IMO

Just watched this, very good programme indeed. Elizabeth Mortimer was a very brave woman indeed, I think she deserved the VC myself, but at least she got recognition that she richly deserved. You have to also feel for the civilians of Biggin Hill, they took a real pasting week after week in the summer of 1940 and stuck with it with typical resolve and bravery, great respect to them.

Good programme last night. Forgotten heros of Dunkirk, the actions of the rearguard. They never got the recognition they deserved and this programme made a good effort to remedy the deficit. Some of the individual stories were quite amazing. Dunkirk is always remembered for the little boats and the rescue from the beaches, it would have been impossible but for these men. Hold till the last man and the last round, not an order I would have been pleased to hear.

Cannot agree more the bravery and selflisness was truly humbling

Just been watching "Wellington bomber", the record breaking effort by the workers at Broughton to produce a complete bomber from scratch in less then 24 hours. Very good programme with reminisences from the surviving workers. Good commentary from Max Hastings who explained what happened to each one both during and after the war. The only question he left unanswered was what happened to the actual aircraft, which was a pity as it would have rounded the programme off nicely.

Have taped Wellington Bomber, sounds good.Am now watching 'First Light' the Geoffrey Wellum story, Spitfire Pilot aged just 18 during the Battle of Britain. Have read the book and its very good.

Tommorow is a great day for documentaries with them starting at 5pm and running through till late.

Have not watched the youngest pilot but, as most have read the book and look forward to that but, its been a tremendous anniversary and commemoration of this epic battle that turned the tide of the war.

Reference my earlier post regarding "Wellington Bomber" have just found that the aircraft, LN514, went on to serve with the 19th Operational Training Unit, survived the war and was struck off the strength on March 11th 1948.
