Excellent thread all. I finally read through the whole thing and really enjoyed reading about everybody's experiences and also enjoyed your photos Reb. I may be going on a grand tour with my dad, brother, and nephew next Spring or Summer with a tentative itinerary to include: the Normandy beaches and environs, the Waterloo area, and Ypres and vicinity. I am absolutely thrilled with this prospect, and have the default honor of planning the details on the ground being the family's resident military historian. Your stories and photos are all very encouraging. I am sort of planning a largely self guided automobile tour to cover all of these areas, and already have Holt's guides to most of the areas in question. I will likely trouble you for more specific advice as the plans start to materialize in more detail.

Bob, Are you sure you are not an Irish Seanachie? Those are incredible views and I thank you for them. History would be better served if they were told more like how you do it. Students I should say would be transfixed!
