Battlefield pictures (1 Viewer)

Hi Shiloh,

Those are great pictures! Did you know those guys would be at the battlefield before you went there? Did they fire the artillery? Man, am I glad you had your camera handy. I would have loved to have seen them.

Since I mentioned artillery, you might be interested in a neighbor of mine. He has built four one-third scale, functional Civil War Cannons. Many times, he has pulled them out of his house on the fourth of July and invited interested people to his country home to help him fire the cannons. I have been one of the fortunate ones he has invited and I have participated in firing the artillery. It is a real kick.

His cannons are amazing replicas. He visited a number of Civil War Battlefields and studied the artillery that was located on the Park grounds. He took hundreds of pictures of them before he began to build them. You have to see these artillery pieces to realize how well done they are.

Thanks for the pictures. They are great!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

thanks for photos Shiloh. I drove there a couple of years ago to see the battlefield. We went in April during spring break and found it really nice. I wish reenactors were there then. We do have some big civil war musters in the area during summer. Leadmen

No Pat I didn't know they would be there, it was a very pleasant surprise. The family decided to go on a picnic so we just kind of loaded up, stopped at wal-mart on the way to get supplies. Drove to the park and there they were. I forgot to go back and take pictures of the Naval landing party at the visitors center thou. I also didn't get the pictures of the sunken road but I couldn't let this oppurtunity go to waste.

Nope it was cuz I couldn't get the camera workin for they dun marched by. There was several folks there and you was pretty much stuck in your spot.
