First Legion is extremely pleased to present the next vehicle in our “Battle of the Bulge” series, BB019 Panther Ausf G as part of the 1st SS Panzer Division, but this time depicted later in the battle with a winter camo white wash applied. The 1st Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Division was broken down into 4 different Kampgruppes for the Ardennes offensive, each named after their respective commander. The most famous of these was Kampfgruppe Peiper which contained all of the division’s tanks and was the tip of the spear of the “Wacht am Rhein” offensive. Our tank is designed to appear as it would have looked once the snows started falling. It has several features of the later Ausf G including the crew compartment heater, rain guard over the driver's vision port, flame supressing muffler, chin gun mantlet, and the debris guard over the gun mantlet. The Panther tank was certainly one of the finest tanks of the war. While considered a medium tank, its weight was more in line with many of the “heavy” tanks of the war. The Panther’s sloping armor gave it very effective frontal defense and its 75mm main gun had more penetrating power than the Tiger Tanks 88mm gun due to extremely high muzzle velocity. Along with the Tiger tank, the Panther is certainly one of the most iconic tank of the Second World War.

BB019 German Panther Ausf G - SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler $359.95

Last fantastic! I've been hoping for a winterized Panther for a long time so this is a must-have for me and I'm glad it doesn't have zimmerit.

Hopefully, in the future there will also be Grey and White Tigers without zimmerit.

I agree with you, I dislike Zimmerit...I also as well dislike fixed side shields....I just hope that FL has improved winter weathering....I was very disappointed with the weathering of 1st FL Winter Tiger Turret #111....TOO MUCH PASTEL GREEN showing thru the whitewash.....Not good IMO

As a modeller I also hate zimmerit, but it is a necessary evil for models to be historically correct. For a tank made after September of 1944, no zimmerit is the way to go. But for most tanks, SP guns and tank hunters produced from late 1943 to September 1944, zimmerit is a must. This model represents a late G model so no zimmerit is accurate for a Panther in late 1944.

If this is a late G model with no zimmerit, shouldn't the base color be Dunkelgelb (Dark Yellow)? It appears to be grey in images provided.

Looks good. I'm looking forward to mine arriving sometime next week. Thanks for posting.

With all the mean spirited posts that never end and drive the owners/manufacturers from the forum we're now complaining about stock updates? That is rich!

Why not Brad, it's Julie's forum.

Tom

Tom,

You are completely correct, she now owns the Forum and I wish her well, but when this Forum was started -- and I was present shortly after the creation -- this forum was started so all could have a "nice place to discuss toy soldiers," as Shannon told me. As the first moderator we had several conversations as to why she started the Forum and she repeatedly came back to the above concept. Yes, it was obvious that the Forum would boost sales but in the years since I've been on this Forum, she and Pete did not make the kinds of posts that we are now seeing. That's not the way she ran things.

I recognize that's all in the past and everyone does things differently but it's not a style that's in keeping with the way this Forum has been operated in the past. She, of course, is free to run things the way she wishes and undoubtedly mine is just a minority view. As such, this will probably be my last post on the matter. Moreover, as I said, I wish her well and hope that she successfully continues Shannon's and Pete's legacy.

No worries Brad but do you think you could have said all this to Jules on a private email or posted a message with friendlier words without the nastiness and rolling eyes etc?

I personally think your making a mountain out of a molehill and in my opinion I don't see anything wrong with what Jules is doing.

Tom

Tom,

I agree that the rolling eyes was not completely necessary. On the rest, we will just have to disagree.

Brad

In reality, every post by every manufacture is an advertisement, isn’t it? I’m not seeing the issue, but opinions may differ

I think Julie's product availability update is a valuable service to Treefrog customers and the Forum is an efficient place to post it. Julie has done some innovative things on the form; like the figure size comparison photos. I hope she continues to expand her contributions, I find them quite useful. Snide remarks by people off their meds are uncalled for IMO.

Incoming!!!!!!!! :)

Julie has been posting “stock updates” for a LONG time, perhaps the best example being the ongoing consignment lists. I’ve always taken it as a sign of her being the industrious sort. Forever cheerful and accommodating to a fault, I wish her all the best. Post away boss-lady, we can take it!;)
