I just purchased this item today, its the Jeep with the twp MP, which have blue scarves which means that they are germans. My question is that is the driver German aswell?

Because i don't understand with the two figures are in a position to stop the jeep if its a german in the jeep...

so why would one figure have his riffle as if he was pointing to the driver? i'm confused

1) I guess that I always assumed that the "German" MP was pointing his rifle at another vehicle while his kamraden wait with their jeep.

2) The blue scarf doesn't GUARANTEE that they are German military personel, just that blue scarves were supposed to be one of the recognition signs used by the teams. Pesonally, I plan to use my MPs as GIs that just happen to have acquired blue scarves.

I have the excellent reference book 'Battle of the Bulge Then and Now', Operation Greif (Skorzeny's operation) was to seize two bridges over the Meuse.

At p66 last para 'The problem of recognition by friendly troops was considered vitally important and all the unit's vehicles were to display a small yellow triangle at the rear. Other complicated recognition signs included the wearing of pink or blue scarves and particular buttons being left undone.'

The book also explained that of the many give aways was driving with headlight covers as this was NOT observed by any of the allied vehicles who drove day and night with headlights on! No luftwaffe jabos it would seem.

There is also a picture of the modified stug3 that Andy made on the same page 66, as well as a modified panther to look a little like an M10.

Basically 'greif' was a 'bit of a flop' except for the hysteria factor. Student's para drop was an even bigger fiasco. Interesting how much these relatively small actions are seized upon.

Can't remember if the jeep has anything to mark it as captured German or US.
