BBC's THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (1 Viewer)

Looks good to me. Seems set in the correct time period, as well. -- Al

The series played here a couple of weeks ago on main screen TV and is excellant and is a well worth watching.

The mistake would be to compare it with the recent Tom Cruise movie version which is quite different.

Enjoy.

DESERTKIWI:

Based on watching a few of the segments, I am very disappointed in the BBC miniseries.. I was hoping for a reasonably accurate version of the HG Wells novel---not just because it is set in the proper time (as opposed to the Gene Barry and Tom Cruise versions). It looks as far from the novel (despite the accurate time period) as the two earlier US movies.

See, that's similar to how I feel about the upcoming Midway movie.

Regarding this latest filming of Wells' novel-I think I'll just read the book again.

Prost!

After watching the first two episodes - I think this article by journalist Peter Hitchens sums it up quite nicely :)

OLD BILL:

Bingo! :)

I saw a few clips from the BBC miniseries and they were awful.
