BBG009 Raupenschlepper Question (1 Viewer)

I just received my Raupenschlepper and something seems strange to me. The driver side door is painted differently than the rest of the vehicle (see pictures). I checked with my supplier and he had one left in stock with exactly the same condition. Can any of you guys that own this piece tell me if this is normal or if this is batch oddity?

I can't help but think it looks like a junk yard replacement door which is ridiculous considering how whitewash was applied.

I don't have this piece but it sure looks out of place. Even looks like the figure is looking at it in disbelief

I looked at Sagers and pulled this off their web site. It is not uncommon for there to be paint differences. This looks custom. The weathering is outstanding. Maybe this is the infamous BBG08SL that no one ever heard of. Good be a rare prototype. I will look at the one at the shop if I get there tomorrow.

I've come across four of them and they are all like that.

My one is the same, didn't notice it previously. The reason perhaps is that the decal for the tonnage etc on the door wouldn't have stood out properly with the whitewash effect.. and maybe the lower half of the door got an extra coat to keep the tonnage details clear..wouldn't want to overload the vechicle

Hi Frank,

The driver's side door on my Raupen Schlepper Ost appears very similar to the door on yours. It is interesting to me that the Sager site picture does not display this same color difference. It would be interesting to know if this color variation is purposeful, and, if so, why? And, if it is not purposeful, what happened that resulted in the color difference?

I just checked mine and the door is a little white - but, overall matches the rest of the cab - the dirt and grime paint is done very well on both doors.

I guess different painters ? My truck doesn't have that striking difference as shown in the photo.

My LHS door is lighter as well, I guess it was glued on after the rest of the vehicle was painted - but it still looks fine to me.

Well if everybody elses' looks like Franks' , then I am thinking that the Sager is a preproduction picture. Or, perhaps it is just an early production and the rest of the run was improved. I think it looks great.

Mine is also a little lighter but not too noticeable....Must be normal for this item.......but I am hoping that K/C painters will address these things on future winterized armour.......more realistic winter weathering is needed as most K/C is "too white" ..........I brought this issue up in a previous thread......

Thanks to everyone for their posts. It sounds like this is "normal" for this piece. You're probabaly right about the writing needing sufficient contrast.

I find it a tad distracting from what is otherwise a grreat piece.

Could be that Andy was also trying to simulate a repaired vehicle, perhaps with a part from a different machine?
