Four Feathers

Indian Tiger Hunt---"The Shikar"

Shikar (India)

During the feudal and colonial epoch on the Indian continent, hunting was a true 'regal sport' in the numerous princely states, as many (Maha)rajas, Nawabs, as well as British officers maintained a whole corps of shikaris, who were native professional hunters. They would be headed by a master of the hunt, who might be styled Mir-shikar. Often these were recruited from the normally low-ranking local tribes because of their traditional knowledge of environment and hunting techniques. Big game, such as Bengal tigers, might be hunted from the back of an elephant.

A Shikar party in Mandalay, Burma, soon after the conclusion of the Third Anglo-Burmese War in 1886 when Burma was annexed to British India.

Randy,

Where did you see those? I don't see them on the Treefrog shopping site.

Thanks. The price for the Shikar, $195, seems quite reasonable for what you're getting. It's quite tempting but as I have one of the Streets of Cairo sets, I want to get another one to go with it, the one with the building.

The Shikar Set by Four Feathers is just under half the price when compared to the "Turnabout the Hunt" Set by Somerset.

It is difficult to make a comparison of the sets based on the photos on the websites, but I think the Four Feather's set looks a little bit more attractive.

I agree that the Shikar set looks better. That elephant is certainly something.

Hello,
Does anyone know when the French Revolutionary Infantry (Set #279) is going to be released or when Treefrog will get it? It looks like a great set. Also, does anybody have the Japanese cavalry sets from Beau Geste's Russo-Japanese war line? If so can you post photos? They look good in the production photos from what I can see, but would be great to get a closer look.
JW
