Guys,
I joined the forum some months ago to:
- learn more about the K&C collection,
- to share my knowledge with other members and to learn more about WWII
- to show you my work using K&C figurines and vehicles.
With my thread about the Belgian Fighter Pilots in the Battle of Britain I only wanted to draw the attention of K&C to the fact that it would be nice and interesting to add other nationalties to their collection ,other than UK,USA,Canadian, German and French. We, Belgians, also had 4 years of German and Nazi occupation and thousands of death people both soldiers and civilians. We also were envolved in the D-day landings and the Belgian Brigade" Piron" liberated several villages and towns along the Normandy coast ( they protected the right flank of the British paratroopers at Pegasus Bridge and Merville.)And what do I get .....?
Most of the answers I received are adding nothing to my thread and they are limited to some chit chat between a couple of collectors (out of the +/-40 reactions more than 30 are purely sentimental reactions)
I do not think that the forum was intended to become a personal chat box at the disposal of only a few collectors
sorry guys but I had to take this of my chest.:)

Guy....

With something as emotive as conflict and world conflict at that it is obvious that there will be comments which are steeped in emotion whether right or wrong that will probably be the case as long as people take an interest in the subject matter.

I do not think anyone on here does not accept that all nations did what they could and, in that, that some did more than others or, were hit harder than some.

Historically, the BOB is practically etched into the english Pstche so, I can fully understand the responses and, hopefully, you should also. This however, is not a historical site per se so, we all for whatever reasons we come on here have to a certain extent roll with the punches so, to speak.

Anyway, look forward to your inputs from a Belgium context.
Mitch

I am really glad you have restarted this thread Guy,it was very interesting.I would like to see pilots from Belgium and all other nations that took part.

Do you know how many pilots from your country gave their lives in the Battle?

Rob

Rob,
of the 29 Belgian pilots that participated in the Battle of Britain, 6 were killed during the battle and another 12 between nov 1940 and the end of the war in Europe.
