GRRRR. But you are right. I was just having a great conversation with a Brit friend of mine via Skype and he also made the same observation. Ferdinand was never depicted with a full blown moustache but a scraggly one and a shadow chin. I'll have to redo that moustache.

As a distraction from the Repin project, I took out these two figures to continue to improve them. Now removing the moustache.

Painted the base and varnished it. Painted Ferdinand's face and added some basic embroidery. Now waiting for the oils to dry.

So while waiting for things to happen, I reached out and started to paint this.

Almost completed this piece barring the completion of the sceptre

Added the sceptre. Labelled the piece n varnished the base. Finished!!!
