Yes i hear what you are saying.I guess the only way i can explain it is that the fighting Nazi's are the 'enemy in the field' for my Allied troops,the visible,must be defeated enemy on the ground.The only reason i buy them is that they are the Historical opposition for my UK and US troops.LAH on the flipside somehow embodies all of the evil,deranged,rascist perversion that filled the heads of some of these people.I look at the German soldiers and i see a well trained well equipped and finally beaten Army.I look at the Parades and i just see scum,scum,scum.

But hey this is just my view and i CAN appreciate the quality,sculpting,painting and appeal of these figures.

I never looked at it like that Rob, and that does seem to make sense. Perhaps we need a few squaddies on the Bergplatz and things would be ok :)

I do like the latest FOB German marching figures and officers on horseback taking the salute,they look really good.If i had enough money i wouldn't mind a column of those.:)

But the guys in black did not kill, or massacre anyone yet...(1938)
the Waffen SS did....they are ALL NAZISTAS....
 
Britfarmer your point is well taken but my feelings on LAH fall in line similar to Rob's. I could see having the odd personality piece ( for example the New Hitler figure looks so real its scary ), or even the odd piece for historical interest within a collection. What I can't get my head around would be having a large display of the LAH much like you see advertised by K&C when marketing these figures.
Like Rob I view the "fighting" Wehrmacht and even SS as counterparts to my Allied collections and that is my primary reason for buying them. It doesn't excuse what they did. For example the 12th SS under Panzer Meyer murdered a large number of Nova Scotia Highlander POW's shortly after D-Day yet I still have that SL piece. :eek:

Yes of course Rod,i fully understand that.And i don't want to make a big thing about it i was just explaining how i feel about it,i guess i also prefer figures in action than parading.We are all individuals here and all go about collecting in different ways.Because i don't collect something does not in anyway mean i don't have respect for those who do.Somehow with the LAH it is about the pomp and parading the ideals of the Nazi's and its just not my area of interest.:)

The LAH is a very fine series. I think that if anyone has any pc concerns then they shouldn't even bother with this set. I see no problem collecting them as I don't believe it shows support of their twisted beliefs at all. It is just simply a piece of history that is being presented accurately.
Human history is filled with misery and episodes of tyranny. This is just another piece.
 
I think there is a bit of hypocrisy in a lot of this. I remember the uproar when K&C made WS 091, Gestapo Arrest. The article in the toy soldier magazine questioned the set. I also heard people mention that it the set was a little vicious and quite menacing, ie wondering what the fate would be of the prisoner etc. I had no problem with people’s opinion on that (BTW, it is one of my favorite sets). The problem I had with it was that I did not hear one single person mention Fiagrti’s A4032 Captured Insurgents set. I did not hear a single person say “I wonder what the fate of the insurgent will be? Is he going to Abu Grade to be tortured or Guantanamo Bay? The only difference between the sets, besides the era and manufacturer, is that one set depicts the Germans being the captors and one set depicts the Americans being the captors. My point is, when the Germans did those things it was bad. But somehow when we do them it is ok?

Whenever this debate comes up, about once every two months, it might be simpler to just post a link to any one of the other two hundred or so times this particular topic has been discussed previoulsy. It might save on some cyber ink. :D:D:D

I also would like to say I had absolutely no intention of reigniting this debate or of criticizing anyone elses collection.I can appreciate how good all these figures look together, they are well crafted and painted and must create a very good parade effect.All I was doing was explaining my own slant on it and how I differentiate between the LAH and fighting SS figures.We are all different and all collect in different ways,each to their own i say.:)

No probs Rob, but it just seems to be a never ending debate which pops up on a regular basis. We had a couple of other old forum favorites like Monty vs Paton which seem to have dropped off the critical radar for the moment.
 
I collect some LAH as they are well done by K/C..... for me LAH depicts the "historical" bone chilling evil of the Nazi regime....for me there is no political or moral implications in collecting this series one way or another........ to suggest this....and yet continue to collect other german soldiers such as: Waffen, AK, Wehrmacht, Winter germans etc. is pure folly..........They were all part of the Nazi regime.....all part of the same evil political movement......IMO

You know - when you collect NAPOLEONICS - you never have this "PC" trouble - most people have no knowledge of the entire age and they just look & admire the colorful uniforms ! ;):D:rolleyes:
