Some photos. The first one is the Keep in the Royal Naval Dockyards, the second a view of Hamilton and the third yours truly, next to a boat they're working on.
The house is actually the Commissioner's House, which is within the Keep. I believe the Keep was built to ward off enemy ships, primarily the Spanish and then the Americans. The last photo is a partial list of the Commanders of Bermuda.
Glad you enjoyed Bermuda! Visited it three times in the Seventies while working as an oceanographer and hope to return one of these days. Must say I was most impressed.
If you're thinking of going, one thing to bear in mind is that there are no rent a cars on the island. You have to depend on taxis. One tour guide publication said that taxi fares can eat up a lot of your budget.
