best of 2007 (1 Viewer)

Its tough to compare a $900 plane and a $25 figure, without the pricier one coming out ahead. After all, if money is no object.

What about different "best of" categories"? To avoid getting too carried away, there could be a best figure, a best vehicle (say under $150) and best of the "superlatives".

Since I'm, not a metal guy, I'd say the most impressive plastic piece of 2007 was the Barzso castle system.

Best 2007 release: Figarti E-Boat - nothing even close in my opinion. Would give a runner up nod to their B-17 particularly the one with British markings.

Best 2007 figure set: "The Death of Wolfe" from John Jenkins.

Best KC figure set: The WWI "Christmas Truce."
Best KC tank: German T-34
Best KC line for the year: Crimean War

Company of the year: This is a tough one. Figarti produced the top three or four releases, but they were few and far between and expensive. Same for Honour Bound - a very slow year. KC did its usual job of leading the industry and churning out product. Some incredible historical errors though with its big releases - Heydrich, Rammjager, and Tunisian Tiger. So my pick is John Jenkins for a solid year of high-quality, affordable releases that restored some fun to the collecting world. Also, it is gratifying to see that lesser known historical eras such as the French-Indian War can be successful. The same should be said for KC UK with their Crimean War Line.

For my personal tastes the best SINGLE item for me was the Honour Bound M4A1 76mm Sherman release. No offense to K&C but this Sherman is a bit nicer, and more slightly accurate, than any of theirs.

Since I only collect WW2, primarily US I can't really comment about the other ranges, although the K&C Afrika Korps/Eighth Army ranges are exremely well done. I am fascinated by the Crusaders range of K&C also.

Best plastic? For me it was the American Civil War cavalry charge by TSSD - very original subject, well executed, and adaptable/customizeable. Plain old FUN! My three-year old grandson thinks highly of the "horsies" also!

Gentle Friends,

My choice as the best set of the year is as follows;

Beau Geste Indore Elephant, Delhi Durbar, 1903, set #BG215.

I find this set so elegant that I can hardly keep my eyes off of it!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

My nomination goes to Figarti's V-1 sets. They were creative sets, wonderfully conceived and Figarti's facial painting has been improved to the point where it now equals K&C's.

I might be a little biased but this one is my favorite. :D

I think it would have to be the extremely limited and lifelike Fishead figures made by myself and can be found in various threads here in Treefrog.:):)

Then of course there are the two other limited edition figures...

-The rebirth of Britains gloss figures, with the continuing of the Classic Collection, FIW and the upcoming Zulu War in gloss.
-All of Tradition's 2007 new releases.
-Imperial being back.
-K&C's Crusader, WWI and ACW new releases.

By selection of the best of 2007 is as follows
