It's that time of year. These reflect my own collecting preferences, what I read on the forum etc.

Of the ones mentioned, I voted for the whaleboat because that is an incredibly made model whereas (no offense to the makers) a tank is a tank.

Had the option been available, I probably would have voted for warbirds but the whale boat is quite neat.

Yes, I excluded the high end items like the Figarti Anzio gun and HB Tigers because those are really niche products at much higher prices.

I voted for the whaleboat because I believe it defines what toy soldiers should be. A unique production that represents a unique moment or circumstance in history. I also really like the KC King Tiger. Tough choice. -- lancer

I'm a Jenkins fan but that K5 by Figarti was tops on my list.

The First Legion Napoleonic releases got me interested in collecting that period so I will have to go with them.

My "other" vote is for K&C UK's Charge of the Light Brigade collection. :)

Oh come on!!!! How's a guy supposed to choose. It's like asking a parent to choose which child they love best.:confused:

I noticed that Others catagory leads the poll as I'm typing this. I'm surprised that no series from WBritain was mention. By far based on the sculpting, painting, poses and accessories along with price for their Matte Zulu War Series provided us to date with the best over all series for 2008 as well as their overall product line. I'm sure they will be those of you who will disagree with me but then again I'm sure there's a number who will.......The Lt.

I had to vote other. Frankly, I was not particularly impressed with the sculpting of the King Tiger from K&C (I thought both the Dragon Wagon and the Christmas sets were far superior, as was the damaged winter Sherman). The choices of the V2 Command Vehicle and Panzer IV were good ones, but Figarti's U.S. Grant was better in my opinion. The John Jenkins Whaleboat was an excellent choice, but his new Jacobites are plain and simply the best highland figures I have ever scene. Further, I thought it was odd that no choices from Honour Bound or Britains were on the list. For Honour Bound, the figures themselves are nice, not up to K&C or Jenkins standards in my opinion, but the Gold Edition vehicles released this year were among the best vehicles produced for the hobby, right up there with Figarti's. For Britains, as the Lt. pointed out, their matt Zulu War range is quite good.

So, my favorites for this year were the K&C Christmas set, the Honour Bound Gold Edition Snorkel Sherman, the Figarti U.S. Grant and add on set, and the John Jenkins Jacobites, all of which are among the best sculpted and painted sets I have seen in recent times.

For purposes of this poll, I considered the HB Tigers to be a sort of specialty item for a few collectors. Not really fair to compare those or items like the limited KC warbirds or Figarti rail gun with general releases. It would be like declaring Ferrari to be the car of the year. Obviously, they are all great products. Maybe we should consult the BCS computers?

My other is for the Kind and Country Medieval Crusades line; both the Crusaders and Saracens.

Aren't they busy determining that the Soviet Union won the Cold War?:D:p

By the way, the K&C Dragon Wagon, the V2 Command vehicle and Panzer IV were almost as expensive as the base price of the HB vehicles ($299 as opposed to $350), so I thought the HB vehicles were close enough to fit the retail limit. The Figarti Leopold Gun and the K&C warbirds, at more than $1,000, are more "exotic" items in my opinion.

I voted 'other' because for the most part the other items are not my cup of tea. I did see The John Jenkins Whaleboat at the Hackensack Show and it is a beauty.

I'd vote for WBritain French-Indian War collection, and frankly, it's not just my opinion, it's the right choice. This collection is #1. I put it in the BCS computers and they confirmed it; #1.

I would have to agree about the HB vehicles, but since they are no longer being produced why even bother listing them on the poll. Maybe we should bane together and buy Honor Bound:) Lets create a few jobs.
