Blockhouse full Roof (2 Viewers)

Wonderful work. I am very happy to see a "squared" bastion in the corner, instead of a quick 90 degree turn. Visually, it is much more interesting with the extension and more accurate.

And a brand new blockhouse. Or at least, I do not remember seeing it before.

With your blockhouse, how do you make the joint? What tool are you using? The cuts are wonderfully precise and they have the proper alignment. The few times I have tried, my cuts are awkward and out-of-alignment with each other --- making them useless for building anything.

Do each of the log you place have 4 joint positions like a "lincoln" log, or just 2?

many thanks Ken,
an accurate preparation of the logs is essential for an exact and quick fitting. I have two joint positions and these have to cut at the same distance (between them) on each log, the middle arch has the same dept. In case of a larger accommodation you may fill up.

A little device allows me to made quite precise cuts. I pair off two logs in a tight track and with the drill I pierce between them, so I have two arch cuts on each log. I make the same to the other side. Important to hold firmly the logs during this action of course. I use rods of 10cm and a drill bit of 11cm. At last you have just to finish the logs for the setting.

In my English-Italian vocabulary I found this saying… ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’. May be is wrong but in Italian sounds… ‘provare per credere’.

I'm sorry about the previous post the rods sizes were 10mm and the bit 11mm of course.

Carlo,

The device that holds the log in alignment for when you drill the holes looks like what? Any photos?

Thanks
Ken

RISORGIMENTO- your work is truly amazing{bravo}}! As a fort lover, I can only aspire to make pieces like yours. Can't wait to see pictures of your entire stockade set up with figures!
Ciao,
Sandor

thank you Sandor.
I took the pictures below some time ago before to decide to revise all my stockade with inner platforms and corner bastions. Fraxinus accuracy is contagious!!
This work will take me much time of course.

Greenery and ground are missing but I wished to verify the two Blockhouses setting. I hope you’ll enjoy the same.
Would be fine to plan some inner buildings too but I hope John will release some beauties shortly.

Grazie, ciao.

Handling my Jenkins sets searching new display ways, I thought to craft a proper full roof for its Blockhouse to hide the division line between the parts...

Well done sir! You have created an excellent piece that really adds to the overall setup.

I wish to thank Andanna, Mark and Noah for the positive comments.

Answering Fraxinus I enclose some pictures of the tool I use to hole the logs. It's not the original I have elsewhere but just a copy to grasp the idea. I hope this helpful. Would be better to have a fixed drill going down slowly between the logs.

Everyone may improve the device of course!
Carlo

Thank you Ken for the encouragement.

I have, as many others I presume, just some room problems.

Sometimes I have go at the lottery hoping to get a larger home where display all my soldiers with their Stockade, Blockhouses, Forts and so on.

Waiting the miracle I keep on with my palisade!
