Blue Skies & Black Sheep (1 Viewer)

Thanks for sharing Moe. If I ever delve into the War in the Pacific, I don't think I could find a better backdrop.

This dio and corresponding photos are great. I saw the Boyington figure at Sierra yesterday and it is even better in person.

Forget the backdrop, I much prefer to have the real thing! Where is it and how much????

Tom

Very nice collection and well done photography Moe. Chris

Thank you gentlemen, but I have to mention again that the resemblance to Greg Boyington is quite good in the new set:

Perhaps some people's likeness is easier to render/sculpt than others. I can't say, as I'm way short of experienced in that regard.

Found an interesting photograph of Boyington with the AVG:

Would make a nice subject for a bio-pic, although I have to wonder if he wouldn't have ended up a gangster had it not been for the Marines (and WW2).

As for the beach-front property, I'm afraid that you have to sign up for an episode of Naked and Afraid if you want to vacay there.;)

Somewhere in the Solomon Islands, Munda Point, New Georgia, perhaps:

I'm really impressed with the new Boyington set. Darned if the figure doesn't bear a nice resemblance to "Pappy:"

There's never been a better time to be a toy pilot collector!

Nicely done Moe, great lighting and photography.

Splendid photos! The K&C figure of "Pappy" boyington likes like the real person!

Fantastic pictures it all blends well together. A great plane and greater pilot.

Don't know if anyone is interested in this, but here's the backdrop that I used with the new KC/AF sets:

To save the JPG, right click on the pic and select view image. Then the file can be saved to the windows desktop for use or editing.

Thank you for putting this up.

TECHNICAL Question: So once I download the .jpg image, what do I need to do to get it as a backdrop for a dio. Do I need to have this "professionally" printed by a printer or print shop. I have a fairly good printer but I doubt it can print that quality?

Thanks fr the help!

Hi Larry,

"Rounded-up," the jpg will print out to about 18 x 11 inches. You can always cut the image down into individual parts and then reassemble them after printing. However, there's an alternative that's relatively inexpensive and will produce better results. Simply have the file printed out in poster format:

http://www.fedex.com/us/office/poster-printing.html

or

http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/415793/Full-Color-Custom-Poster-11-x/

I believe that both of those outfits will snail-mail you the finished product, BTW.

There's one other thing that I ought to mention. The original file was about 1.5mb in size and prints out to almost three feet in width. I reduced it so that I could post it here. You might be interested in the original, even if it's just for editing purposes. If so, PM me and we'll make arrangements to get it to you.

Moe...

send me a link to the original page or send me the 1.5mb file...
I did a Google search on the image and can only find a 274kb file on it...

thanks in advance...

While we're on this topic, backdrops I mean, there's a treasure-trove of them at wallpapers.com

On visiting the site, simply search for the subject matter that you're interested in, poppies for instance:

http://wallpaperswide.com/search/page/2?q=poppies

sea_of_poppies-t2.jpg

The files come in large, HD format's and are ideal for editing and printing.

They are also FREE.:D

P.S. My new Britain's Great War lancers would look great in those poppies!

yes Moe...

thanks...

it came through...1.5mb...

it took 15 seconds to download...lol...but it won't lose any pictualization as it's sooooooooooo big...

thanks again...

Great information and great web link.
Thank you very much.

I have three print shops within a 30 min ride so that might work if I want to get a larger and clear production.
I'll go check them out and see what they can do.

Many thanks,
