Hi Guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out. I have bought some blue stuff to do some press moulds of some figures I'm doing for an Anglo Zulu war battle scene. I make the 2 part mould and then use millilput to fill the mold. However they either come out too thin or too fat. Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong and tell me if there are any tips?

Also the millilput I'm using I'm finding it brittle when I need to trim it down to take off flashing or conversions of my figures are there better putty resins out there or better alternatives to use with Blue Stuff/Oyumaru???

I've not had much luck with "push" molds even though I've a lot of experience with silicone molds. As to the fat and skinny results, perhaps you're using different amounts of material when filling the mold or different pressure when closing the mold . . . can't say as you'll have to experiment. Another source of material is the plastic "beads" that kids melt to make designs.

There are different internet groups or forums that you might check out . . . I follow a casting group on Yahoo.

If you can cun a sprue hole in your mold, you may have better luck with two-part resin. (If you live in the USA, try MicroMart as a source.) You might have to experiment by making small holes to let entrapped air escape.

Thanks Al I'm in the UK and yeah I've had mixed results so far with Push Molds. I've tried silicone moulds but it seems very expensive before you can get it right...

Anyway I'll try the green stuff next and see if that is better!
