The Kokoda series is a new fav of mine , great figures which bring to mind the old Australian war time cartoon characters of Bluey and Curly.
My Dad served in the 9th Div A.I.F and he used to draw during that time and they were often the subject. My suggestion is not cartoon characters of course but would like to see some diggers during down time, sitting around having a cupa, being larrikins, camp scenes etc.
My two bob's worth...
Wayne.

Terrific idea Wayne. Aussie soldiers sitting, cooking, eating, drinking beer/tea, shaving etc would make some interesting resting scenes travelling the Kokoda track.
