Christmas came early for me this year. When I visited with John at the Open House he told me he had something for me. He recalled that the only Monongahela set that I didn't have was the BM-01 set. I told him that a couple years before and I guess he remembered. So I was almost speechless when he handed me a set of BM-01s. And not just any set but one of the very first "master" sets that he got from the factory. John pointed out that the hats are a bit different in color than the final versions. Apparently there were six of these sets and John has one, his father has one and a couple of other collectors. These are a real treasure for me. I've paid them the highest compliment by emptying an entire shelf for these three guys. Needless to say my gratitude to John for this gift knows no bounds. So here's to John and our hearty band of Jenkins collectors hoping that you all have a great holiday season and a happy new year. I'm attaching a couple of pictures. In making room for these fellows, I also came across my only seven years war figure - the old boy Frederick himself - from Aeroart. He is worth a look with the new SYW line coming down. Again, many thanks to John and all here who make this such an enjoyable hobby.

Congratulations Doug!
That was very thoughtful of John and the ultimate gift for a JJD collector.

That's a fantastic gift, Doug. John is a real nice person and quite generous. A fine centerpiece to the collection. -- Al

He really is generous to his friends...and has a memory like an elephant too...I had mentioned to him that I could use an extra spear to re-do a Mane's Marzano Dervish set...he hand delivered it to Nicholas at the London show for me...prettae good...prettae...prettae good...

Congratulations Combat on your gift!!! I too, have been the recipient of a JJ gift in the past. Mr. Jenkins is a great guy and very personable too.

Thanks for sharing.

Doug, congrats on your gift. John is a generous and kind soul.

Outstanding!!! Have you figured out the differences in the paint scheme between the typical release and this set which you are likely to be buried with?

Now that is a "treasure" to behold.
What a wonderful and thoughtful gift of John {bravo}}
Congratulations, Doug.

Besides the hat (several differences there), the waistcoat on the production runs are white, not the tan as in the Masters.

Comparing my production run figures to the Master, the face painting in the Master looks to be a much higher quality. The faces I have from the production run appear somewhat blotchy.

So typical of John......he never fails to amaze me that there really are such thoughtful people out there in the world. Heres hoping the new kid on the block in North Korea collects JJ................maybe we can use John to move him from the dark side.

Doug,
Super gift and really speaks to the type of Guy John is. He is a first class individual and I am happy to call him a friend. And I know he is reading this as he actively keeps up on the forum. While you have to admire his talent, his personality and kindness actually solidified me as JJ collector. Not only do I like the figures, but since he is such a great guy, for me, it makes it even more fun to collect his creations!

These type of pieces in one's collections are what really makes it fun.
