Minor conversion work here with a BMC mount from a bag of Greek warriors, and a Reamsa recast crusader. Both approx 60mm .1st, I cut off his plastic spear, drilled out his hand and replaced with steel spear.Making steel wire spears is easy, if you have an anvil, ballpeen hammer and bench grinder.Grind the tip of the wire to a point, whack it on the anvil, grind on side of wheel.Took about 1 minute.
Had to carve away some on the saddle and horse, a little more on the Crusaders
to get a decent fit. Drilled and pegged rider to horse, epoxied, let dry.
Trimmed away on horses base, glued to a steel wargame base I also trimmed.
Black primer, paint from dark to light. Terrain the base with woodland scenics, a shot of Matte finish. Done.
Matches well in size with the KC mounted crusader I think.
Have a bunch of ther Reamsa/Jecsan El Cid Crusader figs. Paint up nice.

Nice job on the conversions Fubar. The spears would be neat but I would probably poke my eye out admiring my handy work.:rolleyes: John

John, Yes the spears are sharp! Most of my 25mm Ancients and Dark ages figs I made metal spears for and they will draw blood if you are not carefull!
I painted a Reamsa Moor as one of the BLACK Guard today as well. Real easy. Started another Crusader too.

Realy nice  your work is an insperation.don't have any Reamsa must chase some up.
Fubar been meaning to ask what stones do you use on your bases?
at this stage all i use is turf and static grass... all my stands are starting to look the same which is getting a little boring.
Cheers :D

Great job Harold!!!! Those came out real nice. I really like your scratch built spears. Great job on the painting and base detail also.
Looks like you,ve been switching gears quite a bit lately, from napoleonics to greeks and knights ect.. Whats next???

Vamp, I got the Reamsa and Jecsan stuf from ATS off ebay.
Horses are from the BMC bagged sets of Crusaders, Saracens and Greeks.Hobby bunker has them too.

Stones are a woodland scenic product called Talus. I use debris I find around the shops sometimes too. Broken cement on WW2 bases is, broken cement!

I painted the 2nd mounted Crusader last nite. Took about an hour. Assembled another to paint tonite.

Just painting whatever I feel like doing. Forcing myself to do more Napoleonics, or whatever gets to be a drag.

Did some more WW2 Russians too, And I have a lumbering 6'6" { in scale} BMC Viking WithRaven banner ready to paint.

Should be sculpting but I seem to be experiancing one of those slumps.

Cool paint job Fub! Liking the shading on the horses amd great simple tip re the spears. I've got a load of metal rod for that purpose, but was scrabbling around thinking of what to use as the spear head. Now I know!
Cheers

Those look really nice and something tells me that we are going to see a lot more. :)

............... :)Hello comrades. ... If I may .... : I will say ... how I make a spear. ...: A wire the thickness is required. For example ...: (rod of vicicleta CUED). ... that is governed and Acceptable.
The point, with a hammer ... the crushing and lime or stone in a drill, I form of Spearhead.
-------------------------------------------------- ----
And I'm going to put links Reamsa and Jecsan. ... that for this reason, sou Spanish. :D.....................:

........................... :confused::confused::confused:...............................
Excuse for the slip when writing and translating. .... Repeat. ...:
To make a spear ... choose a wire bicycle wheel, compatibility with the thickness, for the scale in question. It was crushed with a hammer extremism of the wire and with a lime or stone in the drill .... are shapes of Spearhead.
Then cut the wire on the other end and painted and decorated to your liking.

What a pleasure it is Harold when I visit a thread and find a group of photos of yours featuring your latest finished figures and what's really great about them all is that they're from various times in history and beatifully done. Again thanks for sharing them. Just wondering when your going to begin sculpting a batch of Zulu Warriors:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:....The Lt.

Well Thank you LT and everyone.
