Bomber Command memorial gets closer (1 Viewer)

Rob...

We have spoken about how long overdue this is and, its really beginning to come together the wreath looks excellent and, this is going to be one of the best memorials I think we will have in the UK. Its nice that they are also getting the veterans involved and have listened to what they think such a monument should be. There the ones IMO that count

Guys, so it looks like this will open in June. I will still go up there on the day to see if I can get pics but I'm not sure I'll get anywhere near it at least until after the service, quite right really, far more important veterans and their families are there than yobbos like me:wink2: If I can't get any on the day I will return again the next day for some.

As Mitch says, long overdue but very very welcome. Lots of museums and memorials opening over the next couple of years, going to be visiting them all, very proud to be a Brit right now!:smile2::salute::

Rob..

There is a proper buzz around this in RAF circles they are really pleased such a memorial is now here and, with veterans. I am slightly dissapointed in one respect that something like this was not done earlier so, that I could have attended with my uncle John who seved bomber command before he passed away that, would have been nice. I know he was immensly proud of what he did and contributed to. he did have a hard time with nightmares and the like as I suppose many did after the war and used to apologise to me and my brother for waking us up when we stayed over with him. For me, he did, with others, a superb job of bringing germany to her knees.

Your right about the pride I always am but, its a great feeling that we are finally remembereing properly bomber command and the airmen
