……firstly, if I may take the liberty of re-posting an image taken by Gazza as part of his report on the London Toy Soldier Show 2017….(again, many thanks to his sterling effort regarding the report)…

…the prototype of the forthcoming figure of Bonnie Prince Charlie….

….the figure compliments the 1995 statue created by Anthony Stones, situated in Derby, of the Prince……

……..additionally, the show date closely corresponds within the historic time frame of the decision that was taken on 4th-5th December 1745 for the Jacobites to halt their advance through England (whilst at Derby) and to instead make the return to Scotland………..I wonder if the ‘reveal’ of this figure is purely coincidental to these facts…….

….needless to say, John has again created another stunning figure…..and one which I will be extremely chuffed to own once released….

.

I'm now looking forward to seeing 'Young Charlie' painted and to see what sort of tartan he will be wearing ???

I'm sure it will be most suitable for this iconic leader of the Scots.

Although not a time period that I collect, I hope this figure of Bonnie Prince Charlie, AKA the Young Pretender, will be a great success for John Jenkins Design. I can visualise him standing with the Royal Ecossais on Culloden Moor.
Will he be wearing tartan, who knows, as some of the images supposedly painted at the time of the '45 Jacobite rising show Charles wearing a self coloured jacket,(or even armour), at the very least we can hope for a tartan plaid. Time will tell.
Scottish history is complicated, even contentious, with Charles Edward Stuart, definitely leading the Jacobite Army/cause on behalf of his father, but not all of Scotland came out for him. Many Scotsmen were Hanoverian supporters and opposed the Jacobite cause at Culloden and elsewhere.

Great looking figure and not too 'romanticised' - hope to see some artillery for both sides(French officer for the Jacobites) and Jacobite cavalry - Lifeguards and Baggot Hussars

I think this is a striking looking figure. Although I have nothing in this range to accompany it, I will be using it as a stand alone piece, to nice to pass up. Robin.

Years ago I met Mr. Jenkins at the east coast toy soldier show. We talked about the Jacobite Rebellion range and I asked him if he planned on making Jacobite cavalry, in particular the Princes lifeguard and he said yes.

Royal Stuart for sure!!!!!!{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}

So Cairnbeg, I just have to ask...... To ''be extremely chuffed'' - Is that a good thing?

It sounds painful. :rolleyes2:

......the funny thing is, I thought I was on safe ground with the 'extremely chuffed' phrase.....I had originally written 'fair trickit' !

:)

Ok John, I am ready for this one now. It should look amazing painted up. Robin.

Yes, a local collector here in Perth is looking forward to him too, he's got a huge setup of only Culloden figures and this one is his latest :

a 3 piece set with 7 figures by Pegaso #54-810 that I have painted for him with a gloss finish.
