I don't know about the rest of you but I have tons of soldier boxes everywhere so today I tried to reorganize them. I went out and bought 3 big storage boxes from Wal Mart. This was on top of the two I already had not to mention the two bags of boxes I already had. Three new ones is definitely not enough. I put all the big boxes by themselves. It just seems easier this way and then with the remaining space I had I put WS boxes in one bin and DD and other allied boxes in another. Well, I've still got at least 20 boxes that need to be put away so it's big to Wal Mart for at least another. If I ever have to move, what a job that will be.

I use a large foot locker for most of my boxes and the sets I dont have displayed it helped cut down on the pile of plastic bins. You might want to look for some thing like that since its rectangular and has squared edges it really make it easier to fill with all of the boxes.

Hey Guys:

I share your pain. I just moved to Arizona from NJ and re-packing my K&C stuff is a very tedious job. What I learned is trying to fit as much K&C in one big carton box is a no-no. They are made of metal and tend to be heavy. I had about 8 huge cartons of K&C (hoping to have less boxes...and boy, were they heavy!)and I have to unpack them into 14' X 16" X 12" sized boxes because the movers will not lift more than 50 lbs per box. I ended up with 22 boxes...not to mention my other fine collection of Exoto racing cars and Franklin Mint Airplanes which totalled to another 18 boxes.

Meanwhile, watch out for moisture when in storage for long periods as the boxes will soften up specially in damp areas (such as basements). I suggest lining up the box w/ newspaper. Do not put the box directly on the floor, but use a skid to aerate the bottom.

I keep my boxes in plastic bins up in the attic. I assume periodically I should open them up just to get some air in there.

I find it easier to throw all the boxes out - that way you are not cluttering up your house and it keeps the wife off your back! I also throw out old king & Country sets to make way for the new stuff when it comes in. Does anyone else adopt this rather unique approach to space saving?
Regards Mike

I have approximately 20 big storage boxes full of King & Country boxes in my mother in law's basement and garage, not to mention the 6,000 non-King & Country soldiers I have in their original boxes in storage. Just moving the 10% or so of my King & Country collection that is ordinarily on display in my apartment took two weekends, 35 storage boxes, and the dedicated assistance of our good friend Gideon. Believe me, I understand where you are coming from.

Hey Mike don't be scared to throw out some of that stuff my way. :D

Ha ha - maybe I could start doing a line in selling k&C boxes?!! :D

Throwing away boxes doesn't strike me as a good idea. One, how do you manage all the figures and vehicles you have without them and secondly, throwing them away tends to lower the value on the resale market.

I sense a good marketing idea for someone with space.

Toy Soldier Box Storage!

Send your empty boxes, and they will be stored for a low price (and shipping will be cheap since they are empty).

Someone out there must be willing to try it! Any takers ...

I have the good fortune of having a father with a farm , many buildings and 3 air/water tight steel, not tin or sheet metal, 1/4" steel buildings we made30+ years ago for storing grain. They sat empty for a while. I cleaned them out a few years ago for storage. I have all the empties stored in assorted boxes organized by time period. ACW in those cartons, Napoleonics in others ect, ect.
Theres 2 cargo skids stacked with moving boxes full of little cartons.
Now, If I just had enough room at my house and a wife that looked upon miniatures more favorably I would have more display cases here.I admit, I have little vignettes all over the house.
I have clear rubbermaid tubbs with layered pieces of foam that the troops languish in most of the time unless they are out for display or battle. These stack very nicely under the 6x12' table in my garage.Still woefully inadequate.

Hi Brad - don't panic
I was just kidding - if you ever read a comic called Viz here in UK it has a column every week with people who send in stupid ideas like the one I suggested. I think it's something to do with the British sense of humour!!!

Hey BRAD
I actually threw a track when one of my staff threw out a box from K&C - spent hours rumaging through bins looking for it - never found it! Sometimes think the box is more valuable than the contents!

Dear Mike:
I understood your first post in this thread to be an example of British "wit." However, I have to respectfully mention that posts like that may lead other forum members to think ALL your posts and threads are examples of your British sense of humor, especially when you associate your company with such a post. :(
