It has fallen to me to start a thread covering the Brisbane K&C Dinner which has just concluded. Hopefully when Howard wakes up in the morning he will post his report here but if not the more threads the merrier.
Those who have attended these dinners in the past will know just how much fun they can be. Good company and a great sense of community made for a very enjoyable evening. On behalf of the collectors present – both those who flew in from interstate and the locals – I would like to thank Brett and Gerrilou for their fine work as hosts. The evening ran like clockwork and anyone who has organised a gathering such as this will understand the work that goes on in the background. Thanks of course must also go to Andy who entertained the audience and communicated both his passion for all things K&C but also the hobby as a whole. It was really interesting to hear him speak as both a collector and a manufacturer. I will leave a fuller report to Howard, but we saw the commandos which are very impressive and some new Light Horse figures which are amongst the best in this very fine series.
Dessert was a birthday cake for K&C marking its thirtieth year of operation. A lucky draw was also something of a highlight – first prize was the Carro Armato M13/40. It is sitting beside me as I type these words, proving once again that good things can happen to moderately good people.
