Yo Troopers, I have been deported to this section lol, know how the Ozzies feel now about getting deported lol. Cannot understand what makes the 3rd Kings Own Hussars such a rare set, just seen four of the set, no box a Trooper with broken Carbine, Officer minus his Plume and Sabre, and in a real battered state, and they sold for $270.50. I mean the set was issued for enough years from Victorian days to 1939, yet you can buy the 4th Hussars than didnt have such a long run as the 3rd for a reasonable price, just beats me WHY. Also its a set I would kill for as they say its my Old regiment with the 7th Hussars = Queens Own Hussars 1958. Anyone like to comment on this.

Cardigan - I looked these up in Opie's Great Book and his Toy Soldiers (Prewar). The prewar book has a price guide from 1985 and the 3rd Hussars are listed higher than the 4th or 11th Hussars. The 3rd and 11th Hussars are believed to be the first sculpted by Wm Britains, Jr. The 3rd Hussars had many variant horses and the Officer's "Rearing Horse" is something not all sets had, maybe that makes it more rare. None of these sets are considered rare by Opie via his 1985 price guide. Although Opie's definition of rare is just that. Being over 100 years old and having relatively low production runs do make them valuable. If you want the 1985 prices for boxed and unboxed for the 3 versions of 3rd Hussars or any othe set PM me.

Yo Trooper, interesting but think the 3rd Kings would be out of my price range in the condition I want plus box, so crossed that off my wants list. I am going to get a set made which will cost a lot less.
Bernard.

Understand fully your position -- there's just so much you can spend -- especially with the price of gasoline going up every day.
