Yes, the FIW figures are glossy; and yes that is the Civil War painting being reproduced in toy soldier form.

Anyone know who the the mold maker was for the figures made for the painting??...Just might be putting my foot in a bucket here but these figures just look different to the usual Ken Osen style!..They even look different to the three running/charging clamshell figures shown..these DO look as if they come from the hand of Ken...Subtle differences in moulding-uniform details-Painting????......Anyone else spotted this or have i just been looking too deep in my Jack Daniels bottle????????????.

Here are a couple of images of the original sculpts I took here right after they wee finished. The first one is one of the clamshell figures and the second one is one of the mounted figures from the boxed set.

Hopefully you will like them when you see them finished!
All the Best,

Sorry have to disagree with you they look like Ken's sculpts to me.

I am curious as to the brand of the trees that Britains uses in its displays. I have seen them at Gettysburg and now in the Rev. War display at the Chicago Show. I know they are not as dense as dense as Woodland Scenics. What company are they?

Hello Ken.....Firstly thanks for your prompt reply, Secondly even now with my right foot firmly stuck in the proverbial bucket i stick by my guns, in the photo material THAT I HAVE of the finished items the set from the well known painting and the clamshell figures seem different.
I obviously take you on your word, and i am a great fan of your work, but the painting to me seems different...ie a little glossy/less shading than on the clamshell figures,
Maybe the photos were taken on different cameras/different lighting? Maybe i need new Multi focals? A new computer? Or was it just the
Jack Daniels???...In any case no offence intended..Keep on giving us great ACW Figures..(Rebel Cavalry!!!!) soon i hope.

Regards Steve

These were photographed in Peosta by staff members using diffused light and this tends to 'wash out' the wrinkles and folds. I am sure that they will display well in the flesh though. I also know that Dave used a lighter gray than usual for the early war look and that also made them look a bit different.
Thanks so much for your comments!

Thanks again Ken for your reply...And for putting my mind at rest!!. I think you hit the nail on the head with the studio lighting washing out all the fine detailing it made the figures look stiffer than they are in reality, Plus the Lighter gray probabaly threw me off course!!..Still i have now
learned from our correspondence over the change in uniform gray...Early/Late war, which is really what this forum is all about!!.
Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

Regards Steve

Gentle Friends,

It was my good fortune to visit the Britains room at OTSN. While there, I took a few photographs of the wonders found in the room. I thought you might enjoy viewing some of the photos of these wonders.

Below you should find five photos of the wonderful Nile Boat. It is a magnificent set and it will be a true treasure for anyone who is fortunate enough to acquire one.

Enjoy the photos!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
