Do many of you guys belong to the Collectors club, can you recommend it, and do you get pretty good info throughout the year?.Thanks for any thoughts

Rob

I belong, and I would say that if you collect Britains (old or new, but especially new) its is a necessity. You find out about sets sooner, get the inside scoop (though I think we get that here too), and most importantly, have access to all of the club figures, sets, exclusives, etc.... If I were you, I would waist no time in joining, as you don't want to let those club sets get away:wink2:..:wink2:..

I think it is a must have if you are a collector of their figures. Lots of info provided in The Standard, club figure and exclusive figures throughout the year, and coupon discounts for purchases.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I don't suppose either of you know if the vouchers can be purchased and used at shows do you?.

Well I don't quit know what you mean by "purchased", but I do know that most mainstream Britains dealers accept them, even at shows. The club provides a complete international vendors list, which also indicates whether or not they accept the vouchers.

Thanks Sandor, I meant can you buy vouchers online from the club and save them up to take along to a show, but you've answered my question perfectly, thank you:smile2:

Hi Rob,

As a result of knowing some of your preferences, I am curious. I know your specialty is WWII and I know you are a fan of K&C. Are you planning to also collect a Britains line? And, if so, do you mind sharing what Britains line you are considering?

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Hi Pat,

Very happy to share my friend:smile2:. You see for many years I've wanted a collection that wasn't either WW1 and WW2, just something totally different from a different age. I considered Napoleonics and Zulu Wars, but I decided on the American Civil War. With my WW2 Collection as you've probably guessed its almost entirely K&C releases. But here with the ACW and Bob's example I'm pretty excited because with a bit of careful placing in dio's I can use Britains,K&C, Collectors Showcase,Conte etc. So in London next month I intend to start my Britains collection with some of their excellent single figures.

I will always collect WW2, its in my blood Pat, this is by way of a new collection and a new challenge to see if I can bring realism to dioramas of a different era. Am really looking forward to it!

Very best

Rob

Hi Rob,

The vouchers aren't available for purchase. You do receive 2 per year typically each valued at £5 one for your birthday and one for Christmas. Whether they can be redeemed at shows I am not sure as I have never been to one. I would imagine if they were give to a WB dealer there shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Rob,

How exciting! I am pleased you are expanding your collection as well as expanding your interests. I should have guessed you might collect the ACW since you have shown such an interest in the conflict with your posts and questions in the History Discussion Forum. The Great American Conflict is full of interesting events, people, battles, and places to study and the diorama possibilities are endless. I think the ACW will make an extra fine addition to your overall collection. And,...by the way,...I fully understand WWII is in your blood and will always be the main feature of your collection.

I also think you have chosen an excellent manufacturer for the beginning of your ACW collection. As you know, Britains has a fine line of well developed ACW figures and accessories. Please keep us informed of the progress you make with this portion of your collection. I will look forward to future developments.

Thanks for sharing your plans. I cannot be more pleased for you.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Thanks Pat that's very kind of you. You have hit on exactly the reason why I chose the ACW, it's huge scope , the many different Battles and personalities and the trauma it caused in forging the US all make it very interesting. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this hobby is sharing it with others here and seeing how they display their collections, I will definitely be doing this as I progress.

Britains do indeed make superb ACW figures and am looking forward to starting very much, will keep this area of the forum updated as to how I get on!

Thanks for your interest and kind words Pat

Best

Rob

If one collects ACW WM Britains you have to join the Collectors Club. I did so this year. My lack of committment last year has cost me and now I fear I'll never be able to obtain one of the Collectors Club offerings from 2010. I continue to search for figurine #50015C, an ACW Dismounted Union Cavalry offficer, that augments the just completed line of dismounted Union Cavalry so cleverly depicted on Pages 36 and 37 of the 2010 WB catalog. Indecision can sometimes cost you as this limited run figure (they made according to WB appromately 388 of this figure) sold out in November. If you like a line don't hesitate, snap it up for tomorrow the item you desire just may be impossible to find.

Similar thing happened to me when I didn't buy the first 4 club event figures, and am now looking at over 400 sometime in the future... any one have them:rolleyes2:?

I don't collect any of Britains ranges but if/when I do I will make sure I join the CC.
