Does anyone here collect these or have knowledge of them? I came into a very large, extensive collection of them.
Probably 600-800 pieces, counting every plant. There are walls and fences and dozens of bases. I also have some Britains wrappers the describe the part and the price.

Contact me at :

nevinsrip@aol.com if interested.

Sounds like a great collection !!! Any photos?

What information are you looking for?

I agree with Scott. Please post some photos. I'd like to see what it looks like.

Are you looking to sell it, too? We might want to move this to the selling forum.

Prost!

I'll take some pics tonight. I would love to sell it whole. I need to know it's value and perhaps a point in the right direction to where the buyer might be.
Excluding Ebay, of course.
Right now it's broken up into two "parts" cabinets with everything sorted.

Anyone know of pictures of completed scenes? I've tried google without luck.

I don't think there is a completed scene as it was modular you could make a garden as large as you like.

As promised. You can see just how many pieces that there are. Some are still in their cello. Small piece like you see in the corner have almost 100 parts alone!
I took some shot of the fences and walls just to show condition. There are a lot of bases. Each pocket in the parts cabinet has some sort of ref number written on a sticker. Two of the fences pieces have price tags attached....

This is a huge collection!

I can have a look and see what prices you could expect, will take me a couple of days though.

I'd have a look at eBay, too. I see Britain's Miniature Garden components up for sale from time to time. It might be useful to look at some auctions, see what the asking price is and to follow them to final bid, to see what people are willing to pay.

Prost!

I did check Ebay and did not find much in either the recent, current or completed auctions. Most of what I did find in in the UK.
Are there no Britain's groups or sites that deal with this type of thing?

Not that I know of. I don't think it was a long lived series but was revived in the 60s in plastic. I don't see anything in your photos that would be classed as rare.

Maybe. Each fence section has a $25.00 price tag attached so there's that. I guess that this is probably of more interest to old time model RR collectors.

I'll have to dust off my James Opie and Norman Joplin books. I seem to recall that it was in the catalog for at least 10 years.

I don't know, offhand. Have you tried searching for any?

Britains Garden series started in 1931 and ended in 1939. A total of 31 different sets were available. The most valuable pieces are flowers in original condition with their tissue envelope. Auction prices are deceiving as Garden Series items are usually offered in lots varying greatly in the number of pieces, and condition. Unfortunately most flowers have suffered damage/have been repainted. Condition is most important. The most common pieces are the flowerbeds. Hope this helps.

This link to the Brighton Toy and Model Museum has a picture of three of the garden flowers sections and has the full 1930's catalog listing. THey have a display of the gardens for viewing and a 60's plastic version in storage. Interesting, had not heard of this before. Doesn't help with determining the value but provides a little more info. Chris

Click on one of the links lists rare and common parts of the collection and copies of original catalog pages.
