I was just wondering if anyone had some inside information on the upcoming boat?

There was a brief reference to the Nile River gun boat in the Collector's CLub August issue of The Standard magazine. On page 25 there is a picture of the unpainted and undecorated master pattern. Very little else was said other than the makers feel that they have created an affordable representation of an actual vessel.

Early this year it was stated available late 2010 or early 2011, but given the slow down in Britain's releases now running 3-4 months behind & this being such a large piece like Rorke's Drift storehouse which took ages to come, I would think at best late next year. I am sure it will be worth waiting for, but it will be expensive, so good idea to start saving now. Cheers, Robin.

Yeah, as a club member I saw that too. I was aiming at the Britains staff who I know post here too ;-). I am splurging, even though I do not collect WWI, for the Trench+gun, as I know I will not regret it. Same for the boat. It is just a landmark piece for the oldest (and my favorite) toy soldier company ever. I mean, worst comes to worst, I sell it at buying price in one year. But I bet that in five years, I will be posting pics of that one elusive piece that others would kill for!

From what I understand we are very likely looking at over $1K and a limited edition.

Wait that is 1,000 dollars for the boat and crew!?!??!?!? I was in the range of $600-$800! I mean of course we are talking limited edition, but 1k!?!?!? I have around 300 soldiers, and a ton of buildings, and will likely get around 20-40 more after the holiday season, bringing the total to around 2-3k, but for one boat ($200-300), a crew (250-500), and around 200-300 more, we have a minimum of $650, and a maximum of 1,100. The Britains WWI trench, gun, and machine gun have a total of $500, which my "local" (two hours away) dealer can get me for $450. Can we get some close up pics of this thing? I see these far-away, dim shots of it, and it only makes me want more! Talk about adrenaline rush :)

By the way- limited editions don't make my panicked (well, okay they do, but I have a way to get past it). I always reserve an item with my closest shop, and if I forget to, I can count on the owner as having one left over for me to prey on :)
