Britains Pics from Toy Soldier Convention at Fort York (1 Viewer)

Good catch - we have decided to leave the gun separate and not on an extended base as pictured in the catalog. Long story short there were some issues with the extended base at the back/overall length of the base to weight ratio which meant damage. So the gun will not rest on the base. This will mean a slight 3-4mm difference in height between the limber and gun - which folks in Toronto and UK did not seem to have an issue with.

Thank you for the update, knew there was a problem with the base in it's strength, but I thought this was being fixed and hence the delay in release until November. I have preordered the set and will getting it no matter what, but I must say I am struggling with the idea of a separate gun. Firstly I have 2 guns already from the other sets, so I am not sure I need a third. Guess the main theme for the set is that it is a gun limber towing a gun, so obviously the gun is a very important part of the set. The set is depicting the flight & panic of the British to save the gun, so it needs to be there. Have to say I would rather have the gun included on the base and if necessary drop the front 2 horses to only have 4. Not sure how this effects the price of the set. I am guessing Ken would not like to know what's happening to his workmanship. Have to think about this, I know it's not anyone's fault, but it is a curve ball. Cheers, Robin.

Thanks for the pics and info. Just out of interest, and forgetting the gun emplacement trench piece, do the other two trench pieces fit together no matter which way you put them side by side? What I'm driving at is, could you by three trench pieces i.e. two of them being the same and they would still happily fit together?

Yes all 3 pieces go well together, all the same height. The 2 new trenches fit with each other and also the duplicates work the same. The tiny gaps do not bother me, so small like spider cracks as you can see from my previous photo. Guess if it was a permanent display I would consider throwing around some plastic sand/gravel to cover the lines, but otherwise quite acceptable as is for quick displays. Really happy with the fit overall and the look, cheers, Robin.
