Hi Hugh,

The fighting was pretty desperate and I am sure the officers would have picked up a discarded rifle (I sure would) or even been using their own hunting arms since they would have had their kit with them and most of them were into shooting sports back in those days.

However you are also correct that they would have been more apt to use their pistols and Swords since they weren't just for show and they had to do quite a bit of training with them.

Funny but when I was in the service I prefered to use an M-16 because it gave me something I could use during our training exercises with the MILES System (military lazer tag set up) since we didnt have blanks and lazers for the 45 or 9 mm. I was often mistaken for an NCO in the dark because of it. Army Stories.

All the best

Dave

Good points Dave. In the Canadian Forces officers train with the same weapon as other ranks. Officers also get pistol training but this is a secondary wpn on operations. Also, one can be identified right away if your using a pistol; I would prefer to blend in with the rest of the troops so not to be targeted by snipers looking for officers or signallers.

Oh I'm so excited here. I missed out on most of the Britains Zulu range (I do own "Durnford's last stand" and "Holding the line I" purchased recently.
I would love to have the new Rorkes Drift set as well as other sets.

Matte or gloss? The victorian era is a glossy-feel era to me but I would certainly buy the matte sets.

Is it possible to give any indication when new sets will be made?

Hi Joachim:

I am hoping to have some sets out at the end of this year. Will keep you posted.

All the best,

Richard

We don't want to be good we want glossy Zulu War and Delhi Durbar

A VERY BIG THANK YOU RICHARD. They would be a very nice Christmas present. I do accept private sceenings and promise to keep secrets..The Lt.

Yes, very good news.
I'll cross my fingers for a Gatling gun with new crew and many releases in general. Better start saving...

I assume there isn't much news yet. Is there anything you would like to see made in the new zulu war series (either matte or gloss)?

Besides the obvious sets of infantry I would like to see some depth like NNC and volunteers. I'm sure they'll get there if the series runs for a longer period of time.

Oh yes, and give some men beards. Flipping through 'Brave mens blood' for instance which is full of group shots of troops with beards. They seemed fashionable in that conflict:cool: .

Guys,

I would love to see a matte series evolve.

How about a series centered on the camp at Isandhlwana as it is overrun with Zulus.

Another thought...

How about a Super Deetail range on Brit Infantry and Zulus.

That's not a bad idea at all. You could really amass a large battle scene with those

I have the Rorkes Drift set and am very exited about adding pieces and buildings. So a big vote from me for gloss.

Anyone collecting Civil War or American Revolution - I put several Britians Sets on Ebay :)

Please keep in mind that these appear to be sets made before W.Britain was aqquired by 1st Gear in 2006. You may need to look at each set in question before you decide if they will work with new product lines as developed by 1st Gear.

I expect to see a brand new line covering (basic) subjects done before as well as fresh new ones in the new Britains style (gloss or matte).
A new Rorkes drift set has been mentioned but I don't expect a direct repop of the old one. To be honest, I have more faith in the new team running WB when it concerns making the the Zulu War in miniature.
