Gary, the four loose pieces are, 2 types of canvass tops, 1 extra periscope, and 1 screen mesh. The periscope has no particular placement, just an extra piece you can place anywhere. The screen mesh is inserted over the opening between the sandbags that allows the rifleman to shoots from . . . . helps to camo the opening. The two canvass pieces each have 2 pins on their underside. These pins match up to 2 small pin holes that are drilled in the sandbag area where the rifleman stands. You can only use one canvass top at a time, the one not in use is extra. I have always used the top that has a hood/bonnet. The flat one I just placed on top of the dirt behind the trench. In realilty, the loose corners of the canvass would have been tied with guy lines to the opposite side of the trench in order to keep in taunt. Below is a photo that I took of my set-up. Hope this helps. It was nice seeing you at the show . . . always a pleasure chatting with you . . . .

Thanks for this on my behalf Mike, was not sure what to do with the spare canvass! I too use the hood on my Trench. At some point I will glue the periscope in position I think.
