Britains WWI, Oh No, another war! (1 Viewer)

Ken,
Thanks for the update, I look forward to getting the gun team. Is there a German on in the works??;)

MD,
I have become selective the last few years...I collected Zulu, WWII, WWI, and anything else I liked from a company..21st. Tanks, FOV tanks...you name it...sold off some items, had to make room at the house.....:( At this point I try to find Zulu items in gloss, love the Matte, but trying to not get spread to thin....Stopped WWII 3 or 4 years ago...to much on the market to choose from and I was trying buy the new line every year....I love the premier lines in all of it's incarnations over the years, I pick up pieces here and there. When I saw the WB new matte WWI line I was hooked, that, and Frontlines WWI...The mounted Germans are nice...especially the flag bearer...

Brent, do you have that British over the top company logo set that Frontline made by any chance? I assume it's gloss but cannot tell for sure and have never gotten a response from the company on emails I've sent. Also, I have wondered if the figures are attached to the base they are displayed on.

Is it one big base with all the horse attached or ar the horse on bases that fit into another base ?

It's a shame these folks weren't around when the Irish State Coach was designed as I damaged mine assembling it

Hi There again!
After designing figures and horses that fit into larger bases for Conte, Troiani and ONWTC, we decided to just put the six horses on one large base with all of the harness attached instead. The rear pair of horses have the last length of trace articulated so they can be attached to the limber cross trees. The limber and gun are attached to this grouping with the cross trees on hooks at the limber front. This will give you the team on a base and the gun and limber behind on the shelf level . The way it attaches there will not be a height differential problem.
Hope this helps...and sorry for the delay.

MD...I don't have the frontline "Over the Top" set. The set is matte as far as I know. It was on ebay several months ago, and the pictures were taken by the seller and it was matte....

Could you tell if the figures were all attached to the base or not? It looks like a really cool set, I've just never seen it up close.

Many thanks for your prompt reply Ken :)

Hey MD:

The Frontline set is matte and the figures pin into holes in the base. Comes with a mirror even so you can see the front of the figures if displayed with the backs toward you like in their logo. Gerard, Howard and I have been friends for many years and I was lucky enough to find this under the Christmas tree from them a few years ago.

Hope this helps.

Hi Richard

That was a very cool gift indeed! I have been thinking of looking for that set but have been working on other lines lately so I must stick to the list...

All the best

Hey thanks for chiming in, Richard. I agree with Dave that was a pretty swell gift from your freinds at FF. So, they don't stand on their own but are removable for storage and packing is what it sounds like. I have always liked the looks of those guys...hint, hint I bet you could make some more kind of like them eventually...I'd buy them. Will we see you at Paul's Shoppe in Milwaukee next month?

Thanks again

I think you can still order this set from Sierra and the Michigan Toy Soldier Co.

Excellent news, Richard. I just got back from my twice monthly visit to The Toy Soldier Shoppe and had the requisite hour long conference with Paul. You may not have been to the new location yet I suppose. There is a lot more space in there for functions, so should be a great event. As far as WWI is concerned I picked up his last British Vickers set and one of the newer German sets today. Lovely stuff! Also got the 2 new clamshell Zulus which are absolutely brilliant! I will get the other 4 new Zulus next time. Also got my order in for the 2 limited British WWI sets, the Rorkes Drift Hospital, and the Hougomont surgery and gate closer sets today. The outlook is definitely bright.
