We all know who these two are based on, Chard is of course Royal Engineers, not 24th Foot.

Great painting. You should do it professionally.

It remind me the good old Sanderson figures from Hinchliffe 54mm
A special diorama was in the famous " Under Two Flags" shop in the 70ies ( old paper photos scanned )

I remember the first time I saw this diorama in the Uk publication Military Modeler as a kid, what a stunning diorama back in the day.

England, not China, was the hub of the toy soldier universe back then.

Back in the good old days of my youth.

I remember these photos of this diorama appearing in Military Modeller magazine, must of been around 1974 ish. if I recall.

Mike,
Thanks for the clarification, I was wondering the same thing.

You do spectacular work to say the least, must be very relaxing for you to paint figures, especially to this standard.

As far as doing it professionally; then the problem becomes you have no time to paint your own soldiers.

Not to mention you find out what the toy soldier business is all about and you may not like what you see.

Keep up the brilliant work.

Regards,
George

Many thanks, I always enjoy painting some of the excellent poses that Conte produced, although the "bendy" rifles and bayonets on these particular models were a bit of a pain. !

outstanding paint job...if I could paint like that...I would buy plastics...

Thanks Mike, having noted your Avatar the attached pic is specifically for you.....one of the Conte plastic "poseable" Spartans I painted some time back.

Thanks George for your kind comments, you're absolutely right, I find it a very relaxing hobby, to do when and how long I wan't, once you start doing this sort of thing to order, and for financial reward, I think it then becomes more like a job and not a hobby, thus less enjoyable.

Mike,
You are spot on.

And you are one talented man with a paint brush, those Spartans are jaw dropping. Do you do washes of any sort? You've got this down to a science, thanks for sharing your work with us.

Please continue to do so.........

I use a black and sepia wash but only sparingly, I find its very easy to overdo wash applications which can mute the colours down considerably if not careful.
