One of the nice things about living about 10 miles from Bob Walker is that I have an open invitation to see his collection at any time; I usually take him up on his generous offer three or four times a year. In addition, although Bob and I are the same age, he is not on-line, so I get to order things for him and get some vicarious satisfaction from doing so. It is ALMOST as good as if I was ordering toy soldiers for my own collection. Anyway, I saw a number of Beau Geste double set bands on eBay and knew Bob would want them. Bob and I both like exotic, unusual subject matter sets. Here are four bands that I bought on his behalf, which recently arrived. Bob has never seen them and ordered them sight unseen, so you get to see them first.

World War I Bulgarian Band

World War I Belgian Congo Native Band

Boxer Rebellion French Zouave Band

American Revolutionary War Brunswick Regiment Band

All four are outstanding. Very eclectic selection. I tried to pick a favorite group, but failed. All four are just unique. Thank you for posting these pictures.

Ana has a good hand in picking her subjects (and I am not referring to the collectors of her products). :D

And then, maybe I should have.

Very nice and colorful sets indeed. Thank you for sharing, Mike.

Here are four close-up photos of the figures in the Brunswick, Bulgarian, French Zouave, and Belgian Congo bands.

Well, I just delivered the four bands to Bob Walker this afternoon. His favorite band, which surprised me, is the French Zouave band from the Boxer Rebellion. Remember, I bought these bands for him on eBay sight unseen. He proceeded to enhance the figures by painting rosy cheeks on them using a fine point Sharpie marker.

Bob is a wonderful gentleman and a terrific artist. He is a man after my own heart.:)

Mike,

You are right about that; many of the figures in his collection were from his castings and all are painted by him to a very high standard. BTW, I saw the Conte plastic Spartans you painted for him. Great job and at a very reasonable price.
